The 2026 Guangdong promotional film "Winds Rise over Guangdong" uses "wind" as its central motif, connecting Lingnan's rich cultural heritage, the region's surging industrial vitality and its openness to the world. Wind provides the thread, while people are at the heart of the story. The film features sweeping scenes: the South China Sea monsoonpaints layers of green across the mountains; the Canton Fairdraws merchants from around the world, while Shenzhen is set to host the APEC event; Lingnan's cultural heritage continues to thrive, while low-altitude economyand intelligent manufacturingsurge ahead. But while the stage is grand, it is the real, ordinary people who stand at its center.

We see young Yingge dancer Zhuang Enqidancing confidently to the beat of the drums, carrying on the cultural heritage of her hometown; postdoctoral researcher Fan Yining working in an automaker's laboratory and joining the wave of scientific and technological innovation; Zhong Wei rushing fearlessly into a fire to save lives, and Li Mengyi coming to someone's aid in a waiting hall, spreading warmth and kindness; There is also the teenage girl Li Ruoxi conducting business negotiations in fluent English at the Canton Fair; Li Sitong, who plays Xie Nanzhi in the movie "Dear You", bringing Chaoshan stories to distant places. These familiar and vibrant faces come together to form Guangdong's most vivid portrait of people striving forward.
Making "wind" the core motif is a creative choice. Guangdong has long been a pioneer in embracing new ideas and trends. The winds of modern reform first arose here, while the spring breeze of reform and opening up awakened this land. "Winds Rise over Guangdong" reminds us that the new trends in industry and the spirit of openness are rooted in the people of this land— people who dare to lead, act with practicality and embrace others. Decades ago, the explosionsthat blasted through the mountains in Shekou, Shenzhen, shook the skies and the earth, each one set off by builders who dared to dream and act; crowds of people heading south poured through Guangzhou Railway Station, each ticket carrying a dream of venturing forth and striving for success. Today, as Guangdong's industries surge forward, they are still driven by countless people who work steadily and tirelessly. Guangdong is not only a beneficiary of the winds of its time, but also a pioneer in creating those winds.
