On the morning of September 28th, the "Guangdong Goods Global Reach, Xinjiang Goods Wider Markets" Harvest Event and the launch ceremony of the 2026 "Golden Autumn Action for Consumer Assistance" were held in Guangzhou.

Xinjiang's plums, known as "Xinmei", have transformed from an obscure fruit to a bestselling product in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-MacaoGreater Bay Area (GBA). The popularity of plums from Jiashi County reflects the most vivid story of Guangdong's industrial pairing assistance to Xinjiang over the past decade.
Standing in front of the booth, a representative from Nanjiang Red Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd.based in Jiashi County promoted the purplish-red plums in his hand to visitors, saying, "They now have around 25 degrees Brix. They are perfectly sweet and sour, with soft, chewy flesh and extremely juicy."
Six years ago, although Xinjiang, nourished by snowmelt water from the Kunlun Mountains, enjoyed 2,927 hours of sunshine annually and significant temperature differences between day and night, the local plums had a tart taste, making it difficult to break into the market.
The turning point came after the Guangdong Pairing Assistance Commandintroduced advanced agricultural technologies to Kashgar, Xinjiang. Technical personnel successfully cultivated a set of early-, mid-, and late-maturing cultivars, namely Xinmei No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3.
A transportation distance, over 5,000 kilometers from Jiashi to the GBA, was once the biggest obstacle preventing countless fruits and melons from coming out of Xinjiang. To overcome the obstacle, the Guangdong Pairing Assistance Command decided to bring cold storage warehouses right to the fields.
Plums freshly picked from the orchards of Jiashi are immediately transported into mobile pre-coolers, achieving instant preservation right after picking. According to estimates, the modern cold chain logistics systemhas drastically reduced the spoilage level of Kashgar’s fresh fruit during transit from the previous 20%-30% to just 2%-5%, extending the sales cycle of plums to six months.
