During the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, Yi Yan navigated the streets of Jakarta, using his camera to document Indonesia both inside and outside the arenas. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he set up equipment at home and recorded videos to explain entry policies for Chinese expatriates in Indonesia planning to return to China. When the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway underwent trial runs in 2022, he captured the moment the train departed from Bandung Station. In 2026, when the film "Dear You" premiered in Indonesia, he helped two nonagenarian cousins living in the two countries "reunite" through a video.

Over the years, Yi, who lives and runs his own businesses in Indonesia while operating social media channels such as "Brother Yan in Indonesia" and "Guide to Life in Indonesia," has been documenting real stories between China and Indonesia through videos and texts, adding a touch of grassroots warmth to the exchanges between the two countries.

In November this year, the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting will be held in Shenzhen. Starting September 2nd, media professionals from APEC economies will gather in the Greater Bay Area, visiting cities including Guangzhou, Foshan, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhuhai and Zhongshan to discuss global media cooperation.

When discussing how media professionals and content creators from China, Indonesia and the broader Asia-Pacific region can further strengthen their exchanges in the future, Yi most looks forward to documenting the real stories of ordinary people in both countries. By allowing more people to see each other's real lives, he hopes they will gradually draw closer through continuous interactions and responses.

"We need to truly move from watching from afar to drawing closer to each other," Yi said.

旅印尼自媒体人易衍：让两国民众从“隔空观看”走向“彼此靠近”

2018年雅加达亚运会，易衍穿梭于雅加达街头，用镜头记录赛场内外的印度尼西亚；2020年新冠疫情期间，他在家中架起设备、录制视频，为计划回国的印尼华人解读入境政策；2022年雅万高铁试运行，他拍下列车驶出万隆站的瞬间；2026年《给阿嬷的情书》在印尼上映，他通过一段视频，让分隔两国的两位九旬堂兄弟再次“相遇”……

多年来，在印度尼西亚生活、创业并运营“衍哥在印尼”“印尼生活指南”等自媒体的易衍，用视频和文字记录着中国与印尼之间一个个真实的故事，为中印尼的交流增添民间温度。

今年11月，APEC第三十三次领导人非正式会议将在深圳举行。9月2日起，来自APEC经济体的媒体人将齐聚湾区，参访广州、佛山、深圳、东莞、珠海、中山等城市，共叙全球媒体合作。

谈及未来中国与印尼、乃至亚太地区媒体人和自媒体创作者之间如何进一步加强交流，易衍最期待的，是通过记录两国普通民众的真实故事，让更多人看见彼此真实的生活，在一次次交流和回应中慢慢走近。

“我们要从‘隔空观看’，真正走向‘彼此靠近’。”易衍说。
