The 7th GBA "Cantonese Cuisine Chef" Vocational Skills Competition will be held in Heyuan from August 6th to 9th. Nearly 200 contestants representing Guangdong's 21 prefecture-level cities, Hong Kong, China, and Macao, China, will compete on the same stage, showcasing the distinctive culinary techniques of the three major branches of Cantonese cuisine—Guangfu, Chaoshan, and Hakka cuisines.

This year's competition will fully incorporate Heyuan's local ecological resources and culinary traditions. Wanlv Lake mandarin fish has been selected as the event's designated specialty ingredient, while a dedicated "Taste of Wanlv" culinary brand and the "Five Blessings Fish" visual identity have been created for the occasion. At the venue, organizers will set up a giant 2.2-meter-wide wok to prepare fresh fish soup using fish from Wanlv Lake. Fish balls will also be made on-site using traditional hand-pounding techniques, with free tastings available to residents and visitors.
The competition offers both online and offline channels for participation, giving members of the public an opportunity to take the spotlight on their own culinary stage. The online "My Family's Signature Dish" public cooking contest, running from June 16th to July 20th, has no entry requirements in terms of professional cooking skills. Participants may submit anything from traditional home-style dishes to creatively adapted dishes. More than 100 awards, together with accompanying prizes, are available for talented home cooks and culinary enthusiasts.
The offline event will feature an even wider range of activities. During the competition, signature dishes representing the three major branches of Cantonese cuisine will be displayed, while renowned chefs from Hong Kong, China, and Macao, China, will demonstrate their culinary expertise live. An immersive experience zone for Hakka culinary intangible cultural heritage projects will also be open to visitors. Agricultural specialties, including mountain delicacies and fresh produce from local lakes, will be available for one-stop shopping. A dedicated Cantonese cuisine talent matchmaking zone will also be set up at the venue. Visitors interested in employment or starting a business will be able to connect directly with catering enterprises and learn about vocational skills training policies. The event will allow them to enjoy culinary displays, browse the market and explore job opportunities in one place.

第七届粤港澳大湾区“粤菜师傅”职业技能大赛将于8月6日至9日在河源举行。全省21地市及港澳代表队的近200名选手将同台比拼,集中展示广府、潮汕、客家三大菜系独特技艺。
本届大赛深度融入河源本土生态与美食特色,将万绿湖桂花鱼确定为赛事指定特色食材,打造专属“寻味万绿”美食IP与“五福鱼”视觉品牌符号。活动现场将设置2.2米巨型铁锅,现场熬制万绿湖鲜鱼汤、手工捶打鱼丸,免费向市民游客开放品鉴。
大赛打通线上线下两条参与通道,普通人也能站上属于自己的美食舞台。其中,线上“我家招牌菜”大众比拼活动从6月16日持续至7月20日,不设厨艺门槛,古法家常菜、创意改良菜均可参与,百余份荣誉奖项、配套奖品等待民间美食达人领取。
线下活动内容更加丰富。大赛举办期间,三大菜系特色菜品集中展出,港澳知名大厨现场展演绝活,客家美食非遗项目沉浸式体验区同步开放,山珍湖鲜等农产品一站式选购。现场还将开设粤菜人才对接专区,有求职、创业想法的群众可现场对接餐饮企业、咨询技能培训政策,看美食、逛市集、找工作一站式完成。
