On June 23rd, 2026, eight government departments, including the Ministry of Commerce of China, jointly issued a notice officially announcing the designation of 40 pilot cities for the reform of automobile circulation and consumption alongside their key directions for reform and innovation. Guangzhou successfully made the list, with its core reform tasks designated as "optimizing auto purchase restrictions, the vehicle usage environment, and auto modifications."
Currently, Guangzhou has forged a complete industrial chain ecosystem led by nine automotive manufacturing enterprises, including GAC Group and XPENG, and supported by the synergy of over 1,200 upstream and downstream enterprises. In 2025, the city's automobile output exceeded 2.41 million units, ranking second among all cities nationwide. In the same year, new vehicle sales reached 629,000, representing a year-on-year increase of 13.2%. Regarding exports, the scale of automobile exports has grown at a rate close to 50% in recent years. The city is home to eight of the nation's top 100 automobile dealership enterprises, such as GAC Business and GWQM, boasting a mature and well-developed circulation system.
Guangzhou is also the cradle of the national automobile maintenance and modification market, currently home to 26 large-scale professional auto parts markets and nearly 6,000 enterprises related to the automotive aftermarket. More than 20 professional automotive exhibitions are held annually. Among them, the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition has been successfully held for 23 consecutive editions, firmly ranking among the top three auto shows in China and continuously leading in industry influence.
Leveraging its proximity to Hong Kong and Macao, Guangzhou has nurtured a unique Lingnan automobile culture. It has successfully hosted the 1000 Miglia Experience CHINA for consecutive years and has built three national-level and five provincial-level RV campgrounds within tourist attractions. The integrated development model of "automobile + tourism" is becoming increasingly mature, expanding diversified application scenarios for automobile consumption.
