On May 31st, the 2026 Greater Bay Area Student Information Technology Innovation Competitionconcluded successfully at the Zhuhai International Airshow Center. The event brought together 1,558 competing teams and nearly 3,500 young sci-tech contestants from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao to go head-to-head. After fierce competition, a total of 49 teams and 112 students from Guangdong qualified for the China Digital Literacy and Skills Improvement Activity for Teachers and Students. The Hong Kong and Macao divisions will also select outstanding teams to advance to the national competition, setting the sails for the sci-tech aspirations of youth across the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Aligning with cutting-edge technological trends, the competition was divided into five major categories: creative smart manufacturing, intelligent robots, AI sci-tech innovation, computational thinking, and digital arts. It featured 24 competition tracks covering various popular sci-tech fields, such as A-, B- and C-categoryrobotics, 3D aerospace virtual simulation, creative aerospace construction, and AI agent design and application. The entries focused on everyday challenges to develop practical applications, combining both creativity and utility. The team from Zhaoqing Experimental High Schooldeveloped the "Zhi An Wei" intelligent laboratory monitoring system. By integrating large AI models with embedded technology, they built a comprehensive security system that combines hazard monitoring, automatic alarms, data archiving, and traceability queries. The system can instantly identify and warn against toxic gases, open flames, and smoke, earning high praise from the judges.

The competition saw the emergence of several special contestants and outstanding participants from Hong Kong and Macao. Zhang Juhua, a hard-of-hearing student from Zhaoqing Qicong School, led his team to develop a ground-air collaborative digital twin robot, which won the Outstanding Presentation Award. Expressing himself through sign language, he stated that while he could not hear the applause, he could truly see the light brought by technology. Another winner, Liang Kaichun, and her team from the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, secured the Outstanding Showcase Award with their AI-driven drug identification system named "Yao Jian". She remarked that recognition from the GBA competition platform serves as immense motivation for her team to continue their dedication to sci-tech innovation.
