City Life| “On the eighth day of the fourth lunar month, dragon boats rise from their underwater resting places.”As the signature opening event of Dongguan Dragon Boat Month, this year’s traditional dragon boat awakening rituals in Wanjiang, Zhongtang and Wangniudun followed century-old customs.

From dragon-eye dotting and welcoming the dragon head to ritual offerings, dragon boat awakening and boat washing, each ceremony unfolded in solemn sequence, bringing the ancient dragon boats back from a year of rest beneath the water and officially launching a new dragon boat season in Dongguan. #citylife

“四月八，龙船兜底挖”。作为东莞龙舟月最具标志性的开篇，今年万江、中堂、望牛墩的起龙严格遵循百年传统流程，龙头点睛、请龙头、祭祀、起龙、洗龙等庄重仪式逐一呈现，唤醒沉睡一年的古龙舟。
