As the 22nd China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair kicked off with great fanfare, the Forum on Building up China's Cultural Strength 2026 opened in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, on May 21st. The forum, one of China's highest-level cultural events, has been held in Guangdong for four consecutive years since its launch in 2023.

Since its inception, the Forum on Building up China's Cultural Strength has drawn sustained and enthusiastic responses from academia, the cultural and artistic communities, and many other sectors with its forward-looking vision and open platform.

Experts attending the forum widely agreed that it has consistently focused on the defining task of building up China's cultural strength and has provided a high-level platform for the exchange of ideas and the meeting of minds. Li Fengliang, Party Secretary of South China Agricultural University, said, "I was particularly impressed by the experts' interpretation and understanding of the subjectivity of Chinese civilization. A consensus is gradually taking shape in academia and society that the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional Chinese culture should be advanced through the 'two integrations.'" Zhang Yuqiang, president of the Communication University of China Press, noted that the forum's topics carry a strong sense of the times. "Topics such as technology and culture, and empowering cultural trade with digital and intelligent technologiesare not only relevant, in-depth and practical, but also highly forward-looking," he said.

Chang Hongji, principal dancer of the Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theatre and a lead performer in the dance drama "Wing Chun," said, "In the future, only by staying committed to a people-centered approach to artistic creation and building an independent artistic system while upholding fundamental principles and breaking new ground can dance drama truly become a cultural sensation that conveys the Chinese spirit and helps shape China's national image." Participants said the forum has not only provided theoretical support and practical pathways for building a leading country in culture, but also inspired cultural workers in the new era to shoulder their mission and responsibility.
