As summer begins, lychees ripen in Lingnan. In Maoming, known as China's "hometown of lychees," the lychees are now at their peak season.

On May 16th, the Zhuhai stop of the YueBA (Guangdong City Basketball League) will kick off at the Doumen Gymnasium, with Maoming taking on Zhuhai on the road. This highly anticipated intercity match will not only feature the thrill of basketball but also the sweettaste of Lingnan's finest fruits.

At the event, 2.5 tons of freshly picked Maoming lychees will be delivered directly from the orchards to the venue, bringing the unique sweetness of Lingnan's early summer to the residents and fans of Zhuhaiat the very first moment.

When it comes to lychees in China, Guangdong takes the crown; and within Guangdong, Maoming reigns supreme. Maoming boasts over 1.4 million mu (approximately 93,333 hectares) of lychee orchards. Globally, one in every five lychees comes from Maoming. Premium varieties such as Baitangying, Feizixiao, and Guiwei ripen one after another, while the Millennium Tribute Garden (Gongyuan) preserves the cultural heritage of this ancient tribute lychee region.

Once just a seasonal wild fruit of the mountains, the Maoming lychee has evolved into a multi-billion-yuan specialty industry with a whole industrial chain. Renowned for its crisp, tender flesh, juicy texture, and rich sweetness, it now ranks among the top fruits of Lingnan and serves as an iconic symbol for the “Guangdong Goods Global Reach” campaign.
