On May 11th, the second Global Cantonese Aria Television Arena Competition, themed "Masters Among the People," officially kicked off at the Cantonese Opera Art Museum. Cantonese aria enthusiasts from around the world will showcase the unique artistic charm of the "Fung Style" through 24 rounds of competition.

In the 1920s and 1930s, Cantonese opera gave rise to five major vocal-style schools: the "Sit Style" by Sit Kok-sin, the "Ma Style" by Ma Sze-Tsang, the "Kwai Style" by Kwai Ming-Yeung, the "Pak Style" by Pak Kui-wing, and the "Liu Style" by Liu Hap-wai. By the 1940s and 1950s, more vocal styles gained widespread popularity and established their own distinct identities, including the "Hung Style" by Hung Sin-nui, the "Shrimp Style" by Law Ka-bo, and the "Fung Style" by Chan Siu-fung. Each of these schools has profoundly influenced the inheritance and development of Cantonese opera as an art form.

The competition features dual tracks — a Professional Division and an Amateur Division— breaking down barriers between professional performers and the general public. It has also expanded its scope globally, partnering with Baat Woh Cantonese Opera Association worldwide to recruit Cantonese aria enthusiasts from across the globe. Contestants come from all walks of life, with professions ranging from teachers, doctors, and farmers to students and chefs. The youngest participant is 6 years old and the oldest is 87, reflecting the deep and broad popular roots that Cantonese opera has established among the general public.

The 24 rounds of competition will air from mid-June onwards, every Saturday at 19:05, on the Lingnan Opera Channel of Guangdong Radio and Television. At the same time, all competition content will be simultaneously available on major new media platforms, enabling Cantonese opera fans both at home and abroad to watch at any time and from anywhere.

高手在民间：风腔粤曲演唱大赛启幕

5月11日，第二届全球粤曲电视擂台赛《高手在民间》——风腔粤曲演唱大赛在粤剧艺术博物馆启幕。来自全球的粤曲爱好者将通过24场赛事，展示“风腔”艺术的独特魅力。

20世纪20至30年代，粤剧形成了五大唱腔艺术流派：薛觉先“薛腔”、马师曾“马腔”、桂名扬“桂腔”、白驹荣“白腔”、廖侠怀“廖腔”。到20世纪40至50年代，红线女的“红腔”、罗家宝的“虾腔”、陈笑风的“风腔”等唱腔流派广为流传，各具特色，对粤剧艺术的传承发展影响深远。

大赛设置专业组与业余组双赛道，打破专业与民间的壁垒。大赛还将参赛范围扩展至全球，联动全球粤剧八和会馆，招募全球粤曲爱好者参加比赛。参赛选手来自各行各业，职业涵盖教师、医生、农民、学生、厨师等。参赛选手年龄最小的为6岁，最大的为87岁，体现了粤剧艺术在民间深厚的群众基础。

据悉，本届大赛的24场赛事将于6月中旬起，每周六19:05在广东广播电视台岭南戏曲频道播出；同时，赛事内容也将同步上线各大新媒体平台，方便海内外粤剧爱好者随时随地收看。
