Data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China shows that China's import and export volume of goods reached 11.84 trillion yuan, up 15% year on year, hitting a record high for the same period. As provincial foreign trade data were released successively, Guangdong achieved outstanding results with total imports and exports of 2.54 trillion yuan and a year-on-year growth rate of 19.4%. The province has ranked first nationwide for 40 consecutive years, leading the country in volume, increment and contribution rate, fully showing its role as a foreign trade "ballast stone" of a major economic province.

Guangdong's commodity structure keeps upgrading toward high-tech, high-value-added, green and low-carbon directions. In the first quarter, imports and exports of mechanical and electrical products in Guangdong stood at 1.74 trillion yuan, rising 19.4%. Exports delivered particularly strong growth: exports of integrated circuits, lithium-ion batteries and ships surged by 63.4%, 65.5% and 70.7% respectively. Exports of 3D printers, unmanned aerial vehicles and digital cameras increased by 136.9%, 51.2% and 60.2% respectively.

In the first quarter, exports of Guangdong self-owned brand products grew by 38%, with their share of total exports increasing to 26.6%. This reflects a shift from OEM production to brand-driven development, with steadily rising value-added in exports. In Shenzhen, exports via cross-border e-commerce overseas warehouses reached 59.02 billion yuan, contributing over 40% to the city's export growth. In Guangzhou, market procurement trade exports surged by 140%. Among them, pre-packaged food exports totaled 210 million yuan and were sold to 90 countries and regions, opening new channels to global markets for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

Guangdong's trade network spans nearly 180 countries and regions around the world, with growing imports and exports with all major trading partners. Trade with traditional markets maintained steady growth. Imports and exports with Hong Kong SAR, the European Union, South Korea and the United Kingdom grew by 43.7%, 14.2%, 30% and 25.9% respectively. Emerging markets showed strong momentum. Imports and exports with ASEAN, Africa, India, Brazil and the five Central Asian countries increased by 13%, 29.7%, 20.7%, 22.3% and 24.6% respectively. High-quality Belt and Road cooperation continues to deepen, with imports and exports with BRI participating countries rising 14.8%.
