The Zhuhai finals of the 2026 Guangdong Esports Super League (GESL) kicked off on April 19th. In an exclusive interview, Marco Ieong, Executive Vice President of the Macau E-Sports Federation, who made a special trip to attend the event, stated that the GESL is becoming a bond for the deep integration of the e-sports industry between Guangdong and Macao, building a highly resonant exchange platform for youth in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

According to Ieong, the GESL has upgraded the previously scattered non-governmental exchanges into an official, large-scale, and regularized cooperation platform. This allows Guangdong's mature event operation experience to truly connect with Macao's international resources, cultural and tourism offerings, and its advantages as a service platform for trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. This complementary advantage is being validated at the Zhuhai leg: the event teamed up with the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, gathering a total of 72 teams. The online promotion garnered over 5 million clicks, while the opening ceremony attracted more than 2,000 spectators, directly driving over 100,000 yuan in retail sales at the host venue.

"Both Shenzhen and Macao are young, open, and inclusive cities, where the interests and lifestyles of young people are highly aligned," said Ieong. He noted that e-sports is the most natural common language for youth in both regions. He believes that with education and exchange as the foundation, and events as the medium, young people from both regions will naturally be brought together.

Regarding the future, Ieong stated that it is essential for the GESL to extend to Macao, actively promoting the establishment of a Macao division to eventually create an integrated e-sports competition system covering the entire GBA. He is full of confidence in building a world-class e-sports ecosystem in the GBA. He believes that with complementary advantages between cities, policy support, and young people who love e-sports, they are fully capable of creating an e-sports brand that enjoys global acclaim.

用电竞搭一座桥，让大湾区青年走到一起

4月19日，2026电竞粤超联赛珠海站决赛打响。专程观赛的澳门电竞总会副会长梁炳超在接受专访时表示，电竞粤超正成为粤澳电竞产业深度融合的纽带，为大湾区青年搭建最有共鸣的交流平台。

在梁炳超看来，电竞粤超将两地此前零散的民间交流，升级为官方化、规模化、常态化的合作平台，让广东成熟的赛事运营经验与澳门的国际化资源、文旅场景及中葡商贸平台优势真正对接起来。这种互补优势正在珠海站得到验证：赛事联动横琴粤澳深度合作区，共集结72支战队，线上宣发点击量突破500万次，启动仪式当天吸引两千多名观众，直接带动商场消费超十万元。

“深圳和澳门都是年轻、开放、包容的城市，年轻人的兴趣和生活方式几乎是同步的。” 梁炳超表示，电竞是两地青年最天然的共同语言。他认为，以教育和交流为底色，用赛事和活动作载体，自然就能把两地青年聚在一起。

谈及未来，梁炳超表示，电竞粤超未来十分有必要延伸到澳门，积极推动开设澳门赛区，最终打造覆盖整个大湾区的一体化电竞赛事体系。他对大湾区打造世界级电竞生态充满信心，认为各城市优势互补，加上政策支持和热爱电竞的年轻人，完全有能力做出享誉全球的电竞品牌。
