From April 4th to 6th, 2026, the 3rd China-U.S. Youth Choral Education Seminar, part of the Global Bay Areas Choral Bridge Project, was held in Guangzhou. The event featured masterclasses by Francisco J. Núñez, artistic director of the Young People's Chorus of New York City(YPC) and a renowned music educator, as well as Elizabeth Núñez, the choir's creative director and conductor.

Since its launch in 2023, the Global Bay Areas Choral Bridge Project has run for three consecutive years and has grown into a flagship program for youth arts exchange between the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and the New York Bay Area.

Francisco J. Núñez is a leading authority in international choral education. As artistic director of the YPC, he has set a benchmark for youth choral education worldwide through innovative teaching and diverse artistic expression. Elizabeth Núñez, meanwhile, has devoted many years to youth choral conducting and creative direction. Known for inspiring young singers' expressiveness and creativity, she has played an important role in advancing aesthetic education through choral music.

During the seminar, the two experts gave a series of high-quality free masterclasses at Guangdong Experimental High School, the Liwan District Youth Palace, and the Affiliated Liwan School of Guangdong Experimental High School (No.1 Primary School). Designed for students from both primary and secondary levels, the sessions also took into account the different needs of school-based and extracurricular arts education. With professionalism and warmth, the two educators inspired children's passion for choral singing while bringing fresh teaching insights to frontline arts teachers from across eastern, western and northern Guangdong as well as the GBA.

For participating arts educators, the seminar provided an immersive opportunity to observe international choral pedagogy firsthand and renew their understanding of arts education. Through direct engagement with advanced approaches to choral education, they came to see more clearly that choral education is not only about vocal technique, but also about cultivating aesthetic sensibility, fostering collaboration, and building cultural confidence.

In October2026, the Guangdong Experimental Middle School Choir will travel to New York at the invitation of the YPC to take part in the fourth round of activities under the Global Bay Areas Choral Bridge Project. Through song, the two sides will continue to share Chinese stories and deepen cultural exchange between young people in China and the United States.
