On the morning of April 8th, Cheng Li-wun, chairwoman of the Kuomintang (KMT), led a KMT delegation to pay homage at the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing. At around 9:10 a.m., Cheng and her delegation passed through Fraternity Archway, ascended along the central axis, and climbed the symbolic 392 steps to the sacrificial hall. In front of the statue of Sun Yat-sen, Cheng laid a wreath, and the delegation observed a moment of silence.

After the tribute ceremony, Cheng said that in 2005, then KMT chairman Lien Chan had hoped to represent the mainstream public sentiment in Taiwan at the time to "break the ice" across the Taiwan Strait, which had deeply moved her. As the spokesperson for the delegation on that trip, she returned to the Chinese mainland 21 years later as chairwoman of the KMT, saying that the mainland's progress had surpassed all expectations.

Speaking about commemorating Sun Yat-sen, Cheng said through tears, "On the Chinese mainland, commemorating Sun Yat-sen is entirely natural and proper. But in today's Taiwan, doing so requires great caution and a very low profile." She added that she would carry forward Sun Yat-sen's spirit of benevolence and his ideal of great harmony, and devote herself to peace across the Taiwan Strait. Also, she hoped that this visit would help sow seeds of peace among Chinese people on both sides of the Strait.

A Yangcheng Evening News reporter saw members of the public greeting Cheng and the KMT delegation with calls of "Welcome, Chairwoman Cheng Li-wun!" and "People on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are one family!" Some also shouted, "Welcome home!" and "We look forward to visiting Taiwan!" In response, Cheng slowed her pace, waved to the crowd with a smile, and made finger-heart gestures before leaving.

郑丽文率访问团拜谒南京中山陵

4月8日上午，中国国民党主席郑丽文率领国民党访问团拜谒中山陵。9时10分许，郑丽文率参访团穿过博爱门，沿中轴线拾级而上，攀越具有象征意义的392级台阶，走向中山陵祭堂。在孙中山坐像前，郑丽文敬献花圈，访问团现场默哀。

谒陵结束后，郑丽文发表讲话表示，“2005年，时任中国国民党主席的连战先生希望代表台湾最新的主流民意为两岸‘破冰’，我深受感动。”当年担任随行发言人的郑丽文，21年后以中国国民党主席的身份再访大陆，由衷惊叹“大陆的进步和建设，超乎了所有人的期待和想象”。

谈及纪念孙中山先生，郑丽文哽咽表示，“在大陆，纪念孙中山天经地义、光明正大，但在当下的台湾，纪念孙中山先生却要想方设法、小心翼翼、躲躲藏藏”。她表示，她将继承孙中山先生的博爱胸怀与大同理想，致力于两岸的和平，并期待此行能够为两岸中国人种下和平的种子。

“欢迎郑丽文主席”“两岸一家亲”，羊城晚报记者看到，现场民众纷纷向郑丽文及国民党访问团大声问好，还有民众向郑丽文高喊“欢迎回家”“期待去台湾”，郑丽文均放缓脚步、面带微笑，向民众挥手回应，还向民众“比心”道别。
