"This is my first time being hospitalized in China. I never expected the medical standards to be this high, and the medical staff have taken such good care of me!" said Mr. Yang, a Chinese Indonesian in his seventies who repeatedly expressed his gratitude during his stay in the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital, Guangzhou Medical University. Having long suffered from complications after an ischemic stroke and hip replacement surgery, Mr. Yang experienced remarkable improvement in stiffness and insomnia under the hospital's signature Taiji micro-acupuncture therapy.

In April  2025, Mr. Yang suffered an ischemic stroke. Although emergency treatment saved his life, he was left with weakness on his left side and difficulty walking. After unsuccessful treatments abroad, he learned that the "Taiji micro-acupuncture" therapy of Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital had a strong reputation in rehabilitation medicine, and he decided to travel to Guangzhou for traditional Chinese medicine treatment.

Upon admission, the hospital's Taiji micro-acupuncture team diagnosed him with "deep, thin pulse, qi and blood deficiency, and meridian blockage," and quickly developed a personalized treatment plan. During the first session—lasting less than three minutes—fine filiform needles were swiftly acupoints on the scalp and hands. To Mr. Yang's surprise, the stiffness in his left arm eased almost immediately, and his range of motion improved significantly.

"I didn't feel any pain at all!" he exclaimed with delight. That same night, he enjoyed his first restful sleep in months, and his appetite began to return. His younger brother, who had long suffered from nerve pain caused by shingles, also felt great relief after just one acupuncture session. Mr. Yang remarked that the strength of his motherland is not only reflected in its economic progress but also in the rise of its medical science and technology.
