City Life | Zhanjiang Bay No. 1, the world’s first floating, dynamically positioned cage-type aquaculture vessel, has been officially delivered in Zhanjiang. It will head to waters approximately 30 nautical miles off Naozhou Island to conduct long-term offshore aquaculture research. Its sister ship, Bay Area Lingding, has recently completed sea trials and is expected to commence fish farming by next spring. From nearshore to far offshore, an increasing number of “high-tech fish-farming vessels” are venturing into the deep sea. As Guangdong’s “blue granary” continues to expand, China’s food security foundation grows even stronger.
