Stepping into He Garden in Ronggui Subdistrict of Shunde District, Foshan City, one is greeted by a meticulously arranged display of over 300 penjing pieces throughout a 3,000-square-meter courtyard.

Among the many schools of Chinese penjing, Lingnan penjing is distinguished by its emphasis on natural growth, with little visible sign of artificial shaping.

As one of the birthplaces of Lingnan penjing, Ronggui in Shunde benefits from superior natural and geographical conditions. The region enjoys a mild climate year-round, abundant rainfall, and ample sunlight, along with convenient land and water transportation. Historically a hub of economic prosperity, commercial vitality, and flourishing culture and education, Ronggui has attracted and cultivated a large community of penjing enthusiasts.

According to statistics, Ronggui Subdistrict is now home to three nationally recognized penjing art masters, four Guangdong Lingnan penjing art masters, and two cross-century outstanding Chinese penjing artists.

Entering He Garden, various penjing dot the garden: some are towering and majestic, others lush and vibrant. The most eye-catching of all is a banyan penjing titled "Hometown Affection", which is taller than a person and wider than a car. With a tree age exceeding 120 years and a weight of 17 tons, its roots are deeply intertwined in fertile soil, and its sturdy, outstretched branches overlook the courtyard with commanding presence, manifesting the profound weight of time.

It is mentioned that Lingnan penjing adheres to the principle of "Right Plant, Right Place" with common tree species including Orange-jessamine, Chinese banyan, and Chinese Hackberry. It can take as little as three to five years, or as long as eight to ten years, to cultivate a top-tier specimen. Pruning and maintenance require unwavering dedication and must align with the natural growth patterns of each tree species.

To admire an outstanding Lingnan penjing is to feel the sunshine and rain, the song of birds and the fragrance of flowers. In this miniature space, one can also resonate with the spiritual pursuit behind each piece.

顺德容桂：看岭南盆景在方寸间续写百年传承

步入佛山市顺德区容桂街道的合园，三千平方米的庭院里，三百余盆盆景错落有致。

在中华盆景诸多流派中，岭南盆景的特别之处就在于注重自然生长，不留人工痕迹。

作为岭南盆景的发祥地之一，顺德容桂自然地理条件优越，不仅终年气候温和、雨量充沛、日照充足，且水陆交通便利，自古经济发达、商业繁荣、文教鼎盛，培养并聚集起了众多盆景爱好者。

据统计，如今容桂街道拥有国家盆景艺术大师3人、广东省岭南盆景艺术大师4人、跨世纪中国盆景杰出艺术家2人。

走进合园，各类盆景星罗棋布：或硕大高耸、气势磅礴，或枝繁叶茂、生机盎然。而最惹眼的莫过于比人还高、比车还宽的榕树盆景《乡情》，树龄超过120年，重量达17吨，根茎盘根错节、牢牢扎根沃土，枝干遒劲舒展、傲然俯视庭院，尽显岁月沉淀的厚重。

据介绍，岭南盆景选材讲究“适地适树”，常见的树种有九里香、榕树、朴树等。培育一盆精品盆景，少则花上三年五载，多则十年八年的时间。修剪养护更需持之以恒，顺应树种生长规律。

观赏一盆优秀的岭南盆景，仿佛能感受到这里的阳光雨露、鸟语花香，同时在方寸之间，聆听每一位师傅的精神共鸣。
