On November 27th, the day after the a five-alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court residential complex in Tai Po, Hong Kong, rescue and investigation efforts remain ongoing at the scene, while outside the cordoned area, goodwill and support from across society poured in.

At the Kwong Fuk Community Center near Wang Fuk Court, local residents spontaneously formed volunteer teams, and some carried trolleys filled with warm clothes, socks, and blankets. Uniformed volunteers from the Hong Kong division of the 15th National Games also joined the effort, distributing cup noodles, bananas, and bread. One volunteer said, "Although the National Games have concluded, our commitment to service remains unchanged." Mr. Huang, a resident, came with friends at 7 a.m., bringing energy drinks, bottled water, and biscuits. He reflected, "In times of difficulty, Hong Kong always demonstrates a force of unity and friendship. Everyone offers their helping hand."

In addition, several women came from Sheung Shui and Yuen Long to help. One pushed a small trolley carrying leftover baby supplies from her own child. Registered Chinese medicine practitioner Mr. Zhao brought a medical kit to offer free health services. A local restaurant set up a long table labelled "FREE MEAL, SELF-SERVICE". Members of a local volunteer rescue team, "R.C.R.T", said they would stay until late at night to continue helping, offering small acts of kindness to bring warmth to those affected.

The Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) has also rolled out multiple relief measures. The Immigration Department (Hong Kong) opened a green channel for ID reissuance so that affected residents can apply directly without making an appointment. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Association of Banks urged financial institutions to offer flexible support to those affected, including easier withdrawal of cash, expedited document replacement, repayment extensions, and increased staffing at banks in the Tai Po District. For shelter, the government has opened nine temporary shelters, which already house over 500 residents. Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 youth hostel and hotel units have been coordinated for short-term stays. Looking ahead, around 1,800 transitional housing resources will be consolidated to comprehensively meet the accommodation needs of those affected.
