"I never imagined I could once again work side by side with Chinese doctors here in Fiji," said Dr. Anesh, a Fijian physician, speaking fluent Mandarin in front of the camera. With the arrival of the medical aid team from Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital in Suva, the capital of Fiji, this local doctor—fluent in Chinese and skilled in medicine—naturally became a "bridge" for medical cooperation between China and Fiji. At the Suva Diabetes Center, he works with the Chinese team every day, switching seamlessly among Chinese, English, and Fijian, serving both as an accurate interpreter and a participant in professional case discussions.

Anesh's connection with China began in 2013, when he received a scholarship to study there. He first studied Chinese at Shandong University, then pursued clinical medicine at Dalian Medical University. Seven years in China not only gave him language proficiency but also a deep understanding of the Chinese medical system. After completing his studies in 2019, he returned home to join Fiji's public hospital system and eventually settled at Fiji's largest Diabetes Center, where he became an attending physician.

Last year, he made a special trip back to China for a six‑month advanced training program in Qingdao, including time at the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat‑sen University. "China is developing so rapidly," he said. "I wanted to see firsthand the advancements in diabetes treatment technologies and medications."

"China has many advanced practices in many medical fields. Since Chinese doctors came to Fiji, local medical workers have gained new perspectives on many diseases," Anesh said with emotion. "In particular, China's experience in diabetes prevention and treatment is something that our Fijian healthcare system truly needs to learn from." He added that he looks forward to establishing China-Fiji telemedicine cooperation within the framework of South Pacific Medical Aid, allowing the wisdom of Chinese experts to benefit the Fijian people more sustainably and quickly.

斐济医生安纳什：数年中国缘，一生医者情｜医援南太

“没想到能在斐济再次和中国医生并肩工作。”面对镜头，斐济医生安纳什（Anesh）用一口流利的中文说道。随着广东省人民医院援外医疗队抵达斐济首都苏瓦，这位既懂中文又深谙医学的当地医生，自然而然地成为了中斐医疗合作一线的“桥梁”。在苏瓦糖尿病中心，他每日与中方团队共同出诊，在中、英、斐济语之间自如切换，既做精准翻译，也参与病例的专业讨论。

安纳什与中国的缘分始于2013年。他获得奖学金赴华学习，先后在山东大学学习中文，在大连医科大学攻读临床医学。七年的在华经历，让他不仅掌握了语言，更深入了解了中国的医疗体系。2019年学成归国后，他加入斐济公立医院，最终扎根于该国最大的糖尿病中心，成为一名主治医生。

去年，他特地回到中国，在青岛进行了为期六个月的进修。“中国发展得很快，我想亲眼看看在糖尿病治疗方面，科技和药物有什么不同。”

“中国在医疗的很多领域都有先进做法，他们来到斐济后，让这里的医疗工作者对很多病有了新认识。”安纳什感慨道，“尤其是中国医生带过来的糖尿病防治经验，是我们斐济医疗系统很需要看到并学习的。”他告诉记者，自己期待未来能建立中斐远程医疗合作，让中国专家的智慧能更持续快速地惠及斐济民众。
