Egyptian translator Hussein Ismail is the Deputy Editor-in-chief of China Today Magazine's Arabic Edition, dedicating himself to writing and translating works related to China for a long time.

Hussein believes that he has an obligation to explain some "toxic ideas" from some Western media regarding China-African cooperation. "China is trying to colonize African countries," "China is taking the resources of Africa." "I have written many stories about this and we have the facts and data. We introduce to the people and then you judge: who is stealing your wealth."

At the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, China proposed six major propositions for China and Africa to jointly pursue modernization and put forward ten Partnership Action Plans with African countries over the next three years. As a translator, Hussein feels that his work plays an important role in cooperation between Africa and China. "We try to make people understand that this country is willing to help you, for sure not for free. But this is according to the win-win. We introduce to them examples. We say go to the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone and the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway in Kenya. In Egypt, Chinese companies are working in the new capital and China helped people in remote areas to get TV signals. These are all facts."

埃及翻译家侯赛因·伊斯梅尔：向世界讲述真实的中国故事

“《习近平谈治国理政》等著作让阿拉伯世界的人们学习中国发展的经验，并提供了一种思路：每个国家都可以找到符合自身国情的现代化之路，中国就是真实的例子。”埃及翻译家侯赛因·伊斯梅尔是《今日中国》杂志阿拉伯文版副主编，长期致力于与中国有关的写作以及译介工作。

侯赛因认为，自己有义务打破某些西方媒体在中非合作上的“有毒观点”。“‘中国试图殖民非洲国家’‘中国想拿走非洲的资源’，我针对这些谣言写了很多文章，因为我有事实有数据，人们读过我的文章可以自行判断：偷走他们财富的究竟是谁。”

2024年的中非合作论坛北京峰会上，中方就中非共逐现代化提出六大主张，宣布了中方未来3年同非方开展携手推进现代化十大伙伴行动。作为翻译家，侯赛因感到自己的工作在中非合作中担任着重要的责任。“我们一直致力于让人们理解，中国很愿意为非洲国家提供帮助，当然，帮助并不总是免费，但始终是为了双赢的结果。真实案例有很多，可以去看看中埃泰达苏伊士经贸合作区、肯尼亚的蒙内铁路；在埃及，中国企业在帮助建设新首都；在非洲边远农村地区，中国帮助人们获得电视信号。这些都是事实。”
