In 1992, after graduating from university, Hussein Ismail traveled to Beijing and began working at the Arabic Editorial Department of China Today under the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration. "At that time, China was a completely new land to me," he recalled. "Very few people in Arab countries had a deep understanding of China back then." Driven by curiosity, Hussein embarked on a journey of exploration over three decades.

Hussein has visited Guangdong many times. "The location of Guangdong is a privilege location and used to be the gateway of China to the sea. That's why Deng Xiaoping choose Guangdong to start his big project of opening up and reform from this area," he said. "Thirty years ago, I noticed that the people of Guangdong have more opened mentality. They would make business easily with other countries. The culture in Guangdong is also unique. Architecture like arcade buildings witnessed an important chapter in China's history." Every time he visits Guangdong, Hussein notices how rapidly Guangdong is evolving. "Guangdong is jumping and jumping, not walking."

"I feel a sense of responsibility to share these stories with people in the Arab world." Hussein has turned his experiences and reflections in China into books and articles. In 2008, his first major work on China "Chronicles of China" was published, marking the first comprehensive book about China written by an Arab author. Over the past thirty years, he has written more than 300 articles on China, which helps Arab people gain a deeper understanding of China's culture and history.

埃及翻译家侯赛因·伊斯梅尔：广东是“跳跃式”发展

1992年，侯赛因·伊斯梅尔大学毕业后前往北京，开始在中国外文局《今日中国》阿文编辑部工作。“当时的中国对于我来说，是一片全新的土地。因为当时阿拉伯国家鲜少有人对中国有深入的理解。”带着对中国的好奇，侯赛因开启了他长达三十多年的探索之旅。

侯赛因多次到访过广东。“广东地理位置优越，是中国面向大海的门户。我想这就是邓小平先生选择广东作为改革开放这一伟大决策的起点的原因。三十多年前我就发现广东人的思维很开放，这有助于他们和外界做生意；广东的文化很独特，骑楼等建筑见证了中国一段重要的历史。”每次到广东，侯赛因都发现，广东一直在变化，“广东不是‘走着’发展，而是‘跳跃式’发展。”

“我认为我有责任，将这些讲述给阿拉伯国家的人们。”侯赛将他在中国的见闻和思考写成书籍、文章。2008年，侯赛因第一部关于中国的专著《中国纪》出版，成为阿拉伯人著写的第一部全面介绍中国的书籍。三十多年间，他撰写了三百余篇关于中国的文章，帮助阿拉伯国家人民加深了对中国人文历史的了解。
