Guangdong showcases manufacturing prowess at the 29th FILMART

From March 17th to 20th, the 29th Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Invited by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Guangdong Pavilion held its opening ceremony on the afternoon of March 17th. Organized by the Guangdong Provincial Film Bureau, 58 leading local film and television companies participated, showcasing 120 works to highlight Guangdong's achievements in the industry.

Trendy toys made in Dongguan attract inquiries from exhibitors

The exhibition revealed a diverse array of nearly 100 film and TV productions spanning animation, traditional opera, romance, and other genres. Notably, trendy toys based on popular IPs like "Ne Zha 2" drew significant attention, underscoring the appeal of "Made in Guangdong" and the maturity of Guangdong's integrated film and entertainment industry chain.

"Ne Zha 2", released during this year's Chinese New Year, has soared to fifth place on the all-time worldwide box office with 15.126 billion yuan as of March 18th. At the Guangdong Pavilion, Ne Zha-themed toys made in Dongguan sparked intense interest among exhibitors, with some even inquiring about purchasing display samples. A pavilion manager noted that factory production schedules are fully booked until June, adding that even securing the displayed samples required considerable effort. As China's "Capital of Trendy Toys", Dongguan produces 85% of China's trendy toy products and a quarter of the world's anime derivatives. During the HI FUNNY World Trendy Toy and Animation Industry Week held in Dongguan last December, local manufacturers partnered with "Ne Zha 2" to launch the first wave of merchandise ahead of the Chinese New Year. Following the film's blockbuster success, production capacity was swiftly expanded.

The pavilion manager also mentioned that toy manufacturers are eager to collaborate closely with IP creators. Government-led initiatives like the industry week have bridged communication between both parties, creating collaborative opportunities. Beyond "Ne Zha 2", upcoming projects such as "The Wandering Earth 3" have also engaged with Dongguan’s toy manufacturers to develop merchandise ahead of release. Leveraging its status as a key manufacturing hub, Dongguan benefits from industrial clustering and a complete supply chain—components for trendy toys can be sourced within a 15-minute drive, significantly boosting efficiency and reducing costs. The Guangdong Pavilion showcased products featuring diverse craftsmanship, highlighting the region's versatile production capabilities.

广东制造闪耀香港国际影视展

3月17日至20日,第29届香港国际影视展在香港会议展览中心举办。受香港贸易发展局邀请,广东馆于17日下午举行开馆仪式再度亮相。广东省电影局等组织58家优秀影视机构组团参展,带来120部作品,集中展示广东影视产业成果。  

记者在现场看到,近百部参展影视作品类型丰富、题材广泛,动画、戏曲、爱情等新片新剧纷纷登场。同时,《哪吒2》等IP潮玩亮相,彰显“广东制造”魅力以及广东影视全产业链打造成效。

今年春节上映的《哪吒之魔童闹海》票房高涨,截至3月18日,以151.26亿元位居全球影史票房榜第五名。东莞制造的哪吒潮玩在广东馆展厅吸引众多展商询问合作,甚至有人询问展品能否售卖。展位负责人称工厂生产排期已到6月,样品都是好不容易要来的。作为“中国潮玩之都”,东莞生产中国85%的潮玩产品和全球四分之一的动漫衍生品。早在去年12月,东莞举行世界潮玩动漫产业周时,当地潮玩企业就与《哪吒2》达成合作,首批周边商品在蛇年春节前上市,影片爆火后迅速加大产能。

展位负责人介绍,潮玩制造商渴望与IP方紧密合作,政府牵头组织产业周活动,为双方搭建沟通桥梁,提供合作空间。不仅是《哪吒2》,未上映的《流浪地球3》也在活动上与潮玩企业接洽,提前开发电影衍生品抢占先机。东莞作为潮玩制造重要基地,产业聚集优势明显,产业链配套完整,15分钟车程内可集齐潮玩制造所需零部件,极大提升生产效率、降低成本。此次广东馆展示的产品涵盖多种潮玩工艺,尽显多样化生产能力。
