From December 2nd to December 4th, the 2024 Understanding China Conference (Guangzhou) is being held. The theme of this year's conference is "Carry through the reform to the end—Chinese modernization and new opportunities for world development." The conference began in 2013 and has been held seven times. It has become one of the most influential platforms for the world to understand China's development strategy. This year marks the eighth Understanding China Conference and the fifth time it has been held in Guangzhou.

As of November 28th, the total number of confirmed guests for this year's conference has exceeded 600, setting a new historical high. More than 100 guests from other countries, Hong Kong and Macao SARs would participate, with nine former heads of state or government, 16 ministerial-level guests, and two foreign diplomats to China. Over 200 Chinese speakers would also be present. Guests come from more than 30 countries and regions worldwide, making the conference highly representative.

The eight former political leaders attending in person include Mulatu Teshome, former Ethiopian President, Jhala Nath Khanal, former Prime Minister of Nepal, and Yves Leterme, former Prime Minister of Belgium. Online participants include Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the UK.

This year's conference focuses on four major themes. Firstly, the conference aims to introduce the global significance of China to further deepen reform comprehensively and advance Chinese modernization. Secondly, the conference showcases the characteristics and achievements of Chinese modernization, demonstrating how China's reform vitalizes the world. Thirdly, the conference focuses on promoting the traditional Chinese culture, thus enhancing cultural exchanges and mutual learning. Lastly, the conference demonstrates the unique advantages and development prospects of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the leading region in China's modernization process.

以广州为“窗”，读懂中国 | 2024读懂中国

从今天起至12月4日，2024年“读懂中国”国际会议（广州）将在广州举办，本届大会的主题为“将改革进行到底——中国式现代化与世界发展新机遇”。据悉，“读懂中国”国际会议从2013年开始，已成功举办了七届，成为世界了解中国发展战略最具影响力的平台之一。今年是第八届“读懂中国”国际会议，也是第五次在广州召开。

参会人数方面，截至11月28日，本届大会已确认总参会人数达600余人，创历史新高。其中国际及港澳地区代表100多位，总统总理级的前政要有9位、部长级嘉宾有16位、驻华使节有2位，中方的发言嘉宾有200多位。参会人员来自全球30多个国家和地区，具有广泛的代表性。

其中，8位现场参会的前政要包括埃塞俄比亚前总统穆拉图、尼泊尔前总理卡纳尔、比利时前首相莱特姆等；线上参会的前政要是英国前首相布朗。

本届大会在议题设置方面有四个显著的特点：一是宣介中国进一步全面深化改革、推进中国式现代化的世界意义。二是展现中国式现代化的特征与成就，表明中国进一步全面深化改革为世界注入活力。三是推广中华优秀传统文化，促进文明交流互鉴。四是展示粤港澳大湾区的特色优势与发展前景，展现中国式现代化引领地的风采。
