【Introduction】
What is "love"? It is the sweet memories of an affectionate couple, the sparks along the path of chasing dreams, the courage to move forward in hardships, and the seemingly ordinary yet always cherished heroic dream in life.
The series of micro-documentaries "Love Cross The Strait" by Yangcheng Evening News focuses on 12 youths from Taiwan, centering around themes such as sweetness, adventure, youth, and enthusiasm, mainly to tell their heartwarming stories of chasing dreams and finding their "love" in the Greater Bay Area.
In 2024, it has been precisely ten years since Lin Youyi from Chinese Taipei came to Zhongshan.
In 2014, at the age of 36, Lin Youyi, who had been dancing since childhood, had already established two successful dance studios in Taiwan. He was well-known in the dance community, had a successful career, and a happy marriage, and was blessed with children. Chen Junhao, who was then the president of the Zhongshan Taiwan Youth Association, suggested that Lin Youyi expand his dance studios to Zhongshan. The two had been childhood neighbors. Thus, despite never having visited the Chinese mainland before, driven by his curiosity and trust in his old friend, he decided to bring the "Electric Sometimes" (a fusion of traditional temple deity culture with electronic music) from Taiwan to Zhongshan, Guangdong. By integrating its culture into street dance performances, he practiced the exchange and inheritance of cross-strait cultures.
Ten years later, Lin Youyi's integrated art of "Electric Sometimes and modern street dance" has become well-known in the Chinese mainland. In September 2023, there was the parade to celebrate the birthday of Mazu in Xiamen; in August 2024, the "Cross-Strait Youth Carnival" in Hangzhou; and the 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan Youth Lantern Festival Party... Lin, accompanied by his "Electric Sometimes" performances, frequently graced the stages of various major events. On January 1st, 2024, at the "2024 Zhongshan Charity Parade Carnival and 100 Enterprises Charity Bazaar" event, his team made another stunning appearance, becoming a bright highlight in the local traditional festival. This performance also provided the people of Zhongshan with a fresh understanding of temple culture in Taiwan.
"From curiosity to being captivated, and finally to reluctance to leave," Lin summarizes his ten-year journey of striving in Zhongshan. Like the "Electric Sometimes," he crossed the seas to arrive in Zhongshan, experiencing a transformation from nothing to something, from zero to one. Along the way, he faced many challenges and spurred himself on with determination.
