On August 23rd, the Lingnan Water Town International Cartoon and Animation Week officially kicked off in Hongmei, Dongguan. This event, which showcases Chinese animation art, drew animation artists from home and abroad. Notable guests included Sekiguchi Mitsugu, former design director for Hello Kitty, cartoonist Zhong Mengshun from Taiwan, famous Hong Kong cartoonist Wong Yuk-Long, Li Jianping, Chinese chief director of Dragonkeeper, Gu Ziyi, character designer of Black Cat Sheriff, Huang Weiming, series director of Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf, and Cheng Haiming, producer of I Am What I Am.

On the opening day, the highly anticipated list of Lingnan Water Town International Carton and Animation Week was officially announced. The winners included popular animation IPs such as Milk Dragon, Boonie Bears, The Legend of Qin, and Super Wings. A special screening of the first Chinese-Western co-produced animated film, Dragonkeeper, was held, with Chinese chief director Li Jianping sharing behind-the-scenes stories. Cartoonist Zhong Mengshun from Taiwan and movie poster artist Gen, inspired by the natural scenery of the water town, created water town-themed animation landscape painting. Additionally, Gu Ziyi, character designer presented a celebratory illustration to the Centennial Chinese Comic Art Museum and interacted with fans.

In addition, the event featured a vibrant array of activities including animation trend stalls, animation IP shows, sculpture exhibits, and interactive experiences. Local Dongguan trendy brands like Laura and Motor Nuclear, as well as well-known IPs such as Pleasant Goat, Boonie Bears, GG Bond, Happy Heroes, Milk Dragon, Supremo Cat, Azukisan, Go Go Dino, and Zombies Cat, made prominent appearances. The highlight of the animation week was the themed exhibition, which brought together popular IP works like Assassin's Creed: Dynasty, Boonie Bears: Time Twist, and Milk Dragon and Xiaoqi, offering both visual and emotional enjoyment to visitors.

When asked about the cultural essence of the popular AAA online game Black Myth: Wukong, Huang Weiming commented that Chinese traditional stories and culture have unique forms and stylistic features. Integrating these with ethnic traditions for artistic creation is a hallmark and significant advantage of Chinese animation. Dongguan, with its distinctive Lingnan cultural characteristics, can innovate by combining animation and trendy IPs, paving the way for high-quality cultural development.

喜羊羊、熊出没、猪猪侠……亮相岭南水乡国际动漫周！

8月23日，“岭南水乡国际动漫周”在东莞水乡洪梅正式开幕。这场展示中国动漫艺术的盛会，吸引了海内外的动漫艺术家如期相约。活动现场，Hello Kitty原创意设计总监关口贡、台湾漫画家钟孟舜、香港著名漫画家黄玉郎、《守龙者》中国总导演李剑平、《黑猫警长》人物设计师顾子易、《喜羊羊与灰太狼》系列总导演黄伟明、《雄狮少年》制片人程海明等国际艺术大咖齐聚洪梅。

开幕当天，备受瞩目的“岭南水乡国际动漫周”榜单正式揭晓。获奖名单涵盖了奶龙、熊出没、秦时明月、超级飞侠等众多热门动漫IP。其中，首部中西合拍动画电影《守龙者》举行特别展映，中国总导演李剑平到场分享创作背后故事；台湾漫画家钟孟舜携手《雄狮少年》《深海》电影海报画师阿梗，以水乡的自然风光为灵感，即兴创作水乡动漫风景画；《黑猫警长》人物设计师顾子易向百年国漫馆赠予贺图《辉煌美影》，并在馆内与粉丝们近距离互动。

除此之外，动漫潮流集市、动漫IP秀、动漫IP雕塑展、动漫打卡互动等精彩内容异彩纷呈。东莞本土潮玩如劳拉（Laura）、魔动核，以及知名IP喜羊羊、熊出没、猪猪侠、开心超人、奶龙、吾皇猫、暹罗猫小豆泥、帮帮龙、魔鬼猫等闪耀登场。作为动漫周的重头戏，主题展更是汇聚了《刺客信条：王朝》《熊出没·逆转时空》《奶龙与小七之大战暴暴龙》等众多热门IP作品，为市民奉上一场视觉与心灵的双重享受。

同样，在被问到近期火热的3A网游《黑神话·悟空》的文化内涵，《喜羊羊与灰太狼》系列总导演黄伟明表示，中国传统故事、传统文化有着独特的表现形式和风格特征，与民族传统文化相结合进行艺术创作是中国动画创作的典型特征和巨大优势。东莞具有独特的岭南文化特色，结合动画和潮玩IP，将会是文化高质量发展的创新之道。
