The short film "How Can I Rid My Mind of Her" from the Maritime Guangdong Young Director Support Program (referred to as the Maritime Guangdong Program) has recently been selected for the screening section of the 46th Moscow International Film Festival. The film's director, Wenli Huang, shared with Yangcheng Evening News that this inclusion marks his first time being selected for an international film festival, and he expressed gratitude to the Maritime Guangdong Program for providing him with such an opportunity to finish his creation.

The film was shot in Yingde, a renowned tea-producing region and hometown of many overseas Chinese from Guangdong Province, China. The story happens around a local tea factory of overseas Chinese, where retiring elderly employees are preparing for a seaside trip. However, Jian, the protagonist, hesitates about the travel due to his fear of the sea.

The film "How Can I Rid My Mind of Her" was born from the Maritime Guangdong Program, a large-scale talent support initiative organized by the Yangcheng Evening News Group to discover, incubate, select, and cultivate outstanding young Chinese directors both domestically and internationally.

In the 2023 Maritime Guangdong Program, after rigorous selection and evaluation, a total of 11 exceptional young directors, with an average age of 26, received funding for their creations and produced 10 short films centered around Lingnan culture and the stories of overseas Chinese. Among them, Wenli Huang from Qingyuan, Guangdong was one of the fortunate recipients.

Now, with the film's inclusion in the 46th Moscow International Film Festival, director Wenli Huang admitted his excitement: "This is my first time seeing my work selected for an international film festival." The 46th MIFF is scheduled to take place from April 19th to 26th, 2024, featuring over 230 films from more than 50 countries participating in competitions and screenings.

"Although our inclusion is in the screening section rather than the main competition, it allows us to reach a broader international audience and involve more people in our cinematic journey," said Wenli Huang.

He adds, "The Maritime Guangdong Program provided us with direct financial support, enabling me to choose the best, most distinctive, and most challenging approach to complete 'How Can I Rid My Mind of Her.' I am immensely grateful to our production partner, Yangcheng Evening News."

山海计划短片《海水泡的茶是什么味道》入围第46届莫斯科国际电影节

来自2023“向山海走去”青年导演创作扶持计划（以下简称山海计划）的短片《海水泡的茶是什么味道》，近日入围第46届莫斯科国际电影节展映单元。该片的导演黄文礼告诉羊城晚报记者，这是他首次入围国际电影节，“感谢山海计划给了我一次尽情创作的机会”。

《海水泡的茶是什么味道》全片在广东著名茶乡暨侨乡英德取景。故事讲述在当地的华侨茶厂，即将退休的老员工们正在筹备一场海边的旅行，但主人公阿建却因对海的恐惧而犹豫不决……

《海水泡的茶是什么味道》从山海计划中孕育而生。山海计划是由羊城晚报报业集团主办的对海内外优秀华人青年导演进行挖掘、孵化、选拔和培养的大型人才扶持活动。

在2023年的山海计划中，经过层层选拔和评审，共有11位平均年龄为26岁的优秀青年导演获得创作金支持，拍摄了10部以岭南文化和华侨华人故事为主题的短片。来自广东清远的黄文礼，便是其中一位幸运儿。

如今，作品入围第46届莫斯科国际电影节，导演黄文礼坦承 “心情很激动”：“这是我第一次入围国际电影节。”第46届莫斯科国际电影节将于今年4月19日至26日举行，届时将有来自50多个国家超过230部影片参与竞赛或展映。

黄文礼说：“虽然这次入围的是展映而非主竞赛单元，但我们得以触及更多的国际观众，让更多人参与到我们的电影旅程中来。”

黄文礼表示：“ 山海计划给了我们最直接的资金支持，让我能选择最好、最有特色、最有挑战性的方式去完成《海水泡的茶是什么味道》。我非常感谢我的出品方羊城晚报。”
