On April 18th, the Low Altitude Economy Application Demonstration Island event was held in Panyu District. The Panyu District People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality signed a "Joint Promotion Framework Agreement for Flying Car Application Demonstrations" with XPeng AeroHT. The plan is to develop the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center (HEMC) into China's first low-altitude economic application demonstration island.

XPeng AeroHT Research Center settled in HEMC in November 2021 and has since established flying car prototype factories and test flight bases in locations like Hualong Town, Panyu District. This time, the Panyu District People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality and XPeng AeroHT signed the framework agreement to cooperate in establishing a low-altitude economic think tank, constructing flying car infrastructure, exploring flying car application scenarios, and promoting cooperation on cutting-edge low-altitude technologies.

The event also announced the initiation of flying car infrastructure construction, planning to build four flying car takeoff and landing points in the HEMC, along with supporting infrastructure for takeoff, landing, parking, refueling, and communication. Once completed, these points will meet the needs of flying car research and operation, supporting scenarios such as low-altitude tourism and short-distance travel within the island, while also providing valuable experience for building future three-dimensional low-altitude transportation networks.

Addressing the most pressing question of how flying cars will be utilized, the Panyu District of Guangzhou and XPeng AeroHT jointly released a list of flying car application scenarios, including urban short-distance travel, low-altitude sightseeing tourism, science education, emergency rescue, logistics distribution, and regulatory patrols.

Infrastructure is the basis for developing the low-altitude economy. Based on the road improvement project, which was initiated to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of HEMC, this plan is oriented toward intelligence, digitization, and greenization. It involves the construction of flying car infrastructure in HEMC.

On the day of the event, the Traveler X2 vertically took off from the Qingchuanghui takeoff point in HEMC, circled around the riverside green belt, and returned to land, all in automatic driving mode.

Talent is the core resource for generating new quality productive forces and promoting the development of the low-altitude economy. The HEMC Management Committee initiated the establishment of the first low-altitude economic think tank, recruiting the first group of 125 technical talents in this field to contribute their expertise to the development of the low-altitude economy and to Guangzhou's pursuit of becoming a "city of the sky."
