This remarkable class, dubbed "Physical Fitness Enhancement: Exercise and Diet," has become the talk of the campus, boasting impressive results. To enroll in this sought-after course, students must meet a unique requirement - having a Body Mass Index (BMI) exceeding 25. In other words, only PKU students classified as overweight or obese are eligible to sign up.

Far from being a simple weight-loss regimen, this course is a comprehensive program designed to improve physical fitness through a combination of dietary education and exercise routines.

The course description exudes scientific rigor, promising to provide specialized instruction to students struggling with weight issues and subpar fitness test scores. Led by a team of experts, the curriculum combines theoretical lectures on weight loss principles, proper nutrition, fat-reducing diets, and scientific exercise prescriptions. With six hours of theory, fourteen hours of exercise training, and ten hours of practical discussion, the course structure is packed with substantive content and practical application.

Assistant Professor Zhang Xiaoyuan, from PKU's Department of Physical Education, who serves as the lead instructor, expressed her enthusiasm for the course, stating, "This course has been a long-time ambition of mine - to intervene in the exercise and nutrition of overweight and obese university students."

As a young faculty member at PKU, Zhang noted with concern the less-than-optimistic results of the students' physical health assessments, with approximately70-80%of students failing to meet the fitness standards due to overweight or obesity. She emphasized the effectiveness of combined exercise and dietary interventions for this demographic. Moreover, Zhang sees this course as an opportunity to instill healthy lifestyle habits among students. She clarified that while the course is open to overweight and obese students, those within the normal weight or body fat range are not required to lose weight.

The course's emphasis on "specialized teaching teams,""scientific exercise prescriptions," and "dietary education" has attracted many eligible students at PKU to participate. Those fortunate enough to secure a spot have reported significant successes, with the most notable weight loss reaching 15 kilograms.

At the conclusion of each semester, Professor Zhang organizes a session for students to share their achievements, exchange experiences, and reflect on their journey. Testimonials range from improved mood and sleep quality to discovering newfound passions for activities like rock climbing. 北大有门“神奇课”!学生最多减重30斤

在北大有一门神奇的课程,让选课成功的学生三分之一减重5%以上,半数腰围降低5公分以上。

想要“抢”到这门课还需符合一个特殊要求——身体质量指数(BMI)超过25,也就是说,只有确属超重或肥胖的北大学子才能选课。

这可不是一门简单的“减肥课”,它的全称是《体能提升:运动与膳食》。

课程简介就透着科学严谨的味道——针对超重或肥胖及体质测试成绩不达标的同学,打造专业教学团队,进行膳食营养与运动健身知识和技能方面的教授。课程将理论与实践相结合,理论讲授包括减肥原理、合理膳食与减脂饮食、科学健身与运动处方等。理论讲授6学时,运动训练14学时,实践讨论10学时——课时安排看起来更是“干货满满”、操作性强。

《体能提升:运动与膳食》主讲教师北京大学体育教研部助理教授张晓圆表示:“这门课程是我一直想做的主题,超重和肥胖大学生的运动与营养干预”。

作为北大的青年教师,张老师发现“从数据上看大学生的体质健康测试情况不容乐观”,其中“大约70~80%体质测试不合格的同学都有超重或肥胖的情况,继而影响多项体质健康成绩。对于这部分同学,运动与饮食的联合干预才是最有效的”。另一方面,“我开这门课也是想帮助大家树立正确的健康观念,我们选课的要求是BMI>25,只要体重或体脂在正常范围内就属于正常的身材,这部分同学是不需要减重的”。

“针对超重或肥胖及体质测试成绩不达标的同学”“专业教学团队”“科学健身与运动处方”,课程大纲上的这些“关键词”吸引了许多符合选课条件的北大学子参与选课抽签,如愿选中的同学经过系统地学习营养知识、科学地安排运动和饮食各有收获,其中减重最多的学生一共减了15公斤。

每个学期的最后一堂课张老师会安排同学们分享自己的成果、交流经验与心得。“整个人都轻盈了许多”“开始跑步只能跑十几分钟,现在可以跑半个多小时”“情绪改善了很多,睡眠改善了很多”“通过课程接触并喜欢上攀岩”“找到了一起锻炼的‘运动搭子’,一起健康饮食的‘吃饭搭子’”……

大家的感受各不相同,却都看到了实实在在的效果,这一点让张老师十分欣慰。一次学期结课后有位同学特意来找张晓圆,问她可不可以跟自己合张影,“感谢您这学期的付出,我自己有很大的改变!”这位同学的话让张晓圆很受触动,她觉得自己的理论知识与研究成果得到了实际运用,真切地帮到了有需要的学生。
