On March 26th, the Guangzhou Football Park officially embarked on its construction after a mobilization meeting, marking the acceleration of the project's progress and is set for inauguration by the end of 2025.

Spanning approximately 200,000 square meters with a total construction area of about 500,000 square meters, the park is designed to accommodate up to 73,000 spectators (expandable to 75,000), positioning it among the top 10 stadiums worldwide, second in Asia, and first in China. Additionally, it will meet the standards required for hosting all matches of the FIFA Club World Cup and semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup, making it the largest professional football stadium in China.

Football has a strong fan base in Guangzhou, a pivotal city for China's football industry and development. However, compared to developed countries, China lags behind in football infrastructure construction, hindering its ability to host international top-tier football events. The completion of the Guangzhou Football Park is expected to address this gap.

Drawing inspiration from the Jade Openwork Disk with Dragon and Phoenix from the Nanyue Kingdom (203 B.C.-111 B.C.), the stadium also incorporates the renowned Guangzhou ivory carving technique, reflecting the unique charm of Lingnan culture and the sports spirit of dragon boat racing through its delicate form and smooth curves.

The Guangzhou Football Park, adjacent to Guangzhou South Railway StaTion, the busiest high-speed rail station in China, generates high volumes of traffic by hosting international competitions and large-scale performances. Collaborating with the pivotal role of the South Railway Station and the supporting facilities of Changlong Wanbo, it will attract a significant influx of people, residential demand, and capital, stimulating the development in the area, leading it to finally emerge as another landmark venue for hosting sports events after Guangdong Olympic Sports Center.

广州足球公园全面开工 预计建成中国最大专业足球场

3月26日，广州足球公园举行了建设动员会，正式迎来项目全面建设，标志着工程进度将进入快车道，预计在2025年底投用。

广州足球公园项目总占地约20万平方米，总建筑约50万平方米。球场建成后，规模将达到7.3万座（可扩容至7.5万座），将跻身世界前十、亚洲第二、国内第一。将作为同时具备满足世俱杯所有赛事及世界杯半决赛要求的专业足球场，成为国内容量最大的专业足球场。

足球运动在穗有着广泛的群众基础，广州是中国足球事业及产业发展的重点城市。然而，与发达国家相比，我国的足球基础设施建设相对滞后，难以满足承办国际顶级足球赛事的要求。广州足球公园的建成有望改变这一局面。

据悉，广州足球公园设计灵感来自南越王“龙凤纹重环玉佩”，融合国家级非遗广州牙雕技艺，其玲珑形态和流畅曲线充分展现了岭南文化的独特魅力和赛龙夺锦的体育精神。

广州足球公园紧邻全国客流量最大的高铁站广州南站，通过举办国际赛事、大型演出等活动聚集流量，与南站的枢纽功能、长隆万博的配套设施形成联动，将吸引庞大人流、居住需求、资金等要素，刺激周边发展，成为体育中心后举办体育赛事的又一地标建筑。
