On March 22nd, the 2024 Chinese Athletics Association Road Running Work Conference was held, during which the Guangzhou Marathon was named one of the most influential events of the Chinese Athletics Association in 2023.

According to data, in 2023, China hosted a total of 699 road running events, each attracting more than 800 participants, with a cumulative participation of 6.05 million individuals. Notably, April and November each witnessed over a hundred events. Thirty-one provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions organized certified events, with Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang being the top three. The total number of participants in certified events reached 4.1842 million, mirroring the figures from 2019 closely (4.24 million).

This surge in event participation coincided with a marked improvement in both competitive and mass running performances across China. In the previous year, no fewer than 2.5 million individuals in China completed either half or full marathon events. The tally of full marathon finishers soared to 641,700, a leap of 142,700 from 2022, while half marathon finishers reached 1.859 million, marking a surge of 507,500 from the previous year.

Since its inception in 2012, the Guangzhou Marathon has evolved into a standout event of considerable acclaim.

In 2023, the Guangzhou Marathon celebrated its milestone tenth anniversary. Over the past decade, the Guangzhou Marathon, designated as a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race Event, has exemplified professionalism in organization, stringent security, and traffic management, comprehensive medical provision, attentive volunteer service, and extensive publicity efforts. Its professional standards and global reach have steadily advanced, while its cultural significance has deepened. The accolades and milestones garnered by the Guangzhou Marathon not only validate past endeavors but also set loftier benchmarks for its future growth.

3月22日，2024中国田径协会路跑工作会议召开。会上广州马拉松赛获评2023中国田径协会具有影响力赛事。

数据显示，2023年中国共举办800人以上规模路跑赛事699场，总参赛人次605.19万，4月和11月中国举办的赛事数量均超过百场。共有31个省区市举办了认证赛事，其中广东与江苏、浙江位列前三位，协会认证赛事总参赛规模418.42万人次，与2019年（424万）基本持平。

赛事规模不断扩大的同时，中国路跑的竞技成绩和大众成绩均迎来突飞猛进的提升。去年，中国至少有250万人完成"半马"或"全马"赛事，其中"全马"累计完赛人数64.17万，比2022年增长14.27万，"半马"累计完赛人数185.9万，比2022年增长50.75万。

创办于2012年的广州马拉松赛是最具成长性和最引人注目的赛事之一。

2023广州马拉松赛是广马十年。回顾十届赛事的发展历程，作为世界田联金标赛事，广马竞赛组织专业规范、安保交通组织严密、医疗保障严密周全、志愿服务精细体贴、宣传推广深入人心，专业化、国际化程度不断提高，人文内涵不断丰富。广马所获得的荣誉和成绩不仅是对过去所作努力的肯定，更是对广马未来的发展提出了更高的要求。
