400,000 people welcome the God of Wealth on Shenzhen Festival Avenue
In traditional customs of celebrating Chinese New Year, the 5th day of the Chinese New Year is known as "Powu" (or "Breaking Five" literally). On this day, people express their wishes for dispelling evil, warding off disasters, and welcoming good fortune through gatherings, dragon and lion dances, and other forms of celebration. On the 5th day of the 2024 Chinese New Year (February 14th), the "Dragon and Lion Grand Parade" celebrating the Chinese New Year took place on the Shenzhen Festival Avenue. In the parade, the golden dragon soared and circled, expressing the auspicious wish for wealth and prosperity, winning cheers from the spectators. The theme procession also creatively modernized the folk figure of the God of Wealth through cosplay, infusing new vitality into the traditional customs.
