On October 31st, the 134th China Import and Export Fair (referred to as the Canton Fair) officially kicked off its third phase. This phase will last for five days, with a record-breaking number of 11,312 participating companies.
It is worth mentioning that this year's Canton Fair has set up a rural revitalization products exhibition area in Hall 6.0 of Zone A for specialties. The exhibition area covers an area of approximately 5,000 square meters, with 227 booths and 203 participating companies. It covers multiple categories including food, handicrafts, pharmaceuticals and healthcare products, and recreation products, aiming to help rural revitalization achieve success in a new way without any threshold and cost.
In addition to selling to the domestic market, the agricultural products at this year's Canton Fair are also actively exploring the international market. Specialties such as cheese from Xinjiang, chilli powder from Guizhou, and sweet potato noodles from Zhangjiajie are showing their unique charm, aiming at the global market.
“This is our first time to participate in the Canton Fair because we used to mainly focus on the domestic market. Through this year's Canton Fair, we hope to export our delicious cheese overseas," said Mr. Li, Business Manager of Xinjiang Apa Dairy told reporters that the company's cheese is currently produced in Xinjiang and then transported to Guangdong for sale. In order to expand the market, they also set up a marketing center in Guangzhou.
“Just now, customers from Thailand come over to purchase about five tons of cheese from us a year." Mr. Li excitedly told reporters about a deal he had just negotiated.
Gong Wei, the head of the Foreign Trade Department of Chuma Hanla Food (Panzhou) Co., Ltd., believes that the Canton Fair is a festival of exports and the largest exhibition in China. "With this platform, our products are exported to Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Qatar and other countries. Currently, we are further negotiating with customers from Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore and other Southeast Asian countries. Just now, a customer from Malaysia inquired about the location of our booth and intends to come and have a look."
When talking about the experience of participating in the Canton Fair for the first time this spring, Gong Wei said, "At that time, there were a lot of people, and we were deeply impressed. Because it was our first time participating, we have more confidence in the later development of our products and believe that we can bring more rural products to the international market."
Zhangjiajie Sisi Xiang Food Co., Ltd. is a leading agricultural industrialization enterprise specializing in sweet potato cultivation and deep processing of sweet potato noodles in Hunan Province. Through the production technique of intangible cultural heritage, the company produces over 1,200 tons of sweet potato noodles annually, with a total output value of 20.6 million yuan. The majority of the products are handmade and packaged, which has created 85 job opportunities for local farmers and increased their average income by more than 10,000 yuan.
"What farmers fear most is that they cannot sell their sweet potatoes." The person in charge of the company said: "We want to use the Canton Fair as a platform to realize the development of enterprises and expand the market, especially foreign ones, so as to increase farmers' income."
