Guangji Bridge in Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province is counted as one of the four ancient bridges in China. Stepping onto the Guangji Bridge, tourists were attracted by the intangible cultural heritage (ICH) displayed on it.
On June 13th, it was learned that solid works for the protection of cultural heritage have been done in Chaozhou with the principle of upholding fundamentals and promoting innovations through active moves to conserve and revitalize Guangji Bridge and Guangji Gate Tower, which thus brought them the two historic sites new vitality in the new era.
"As young people, we are also trying to add modern elements to traditional crafts," said Lin Chugang, who is an intermediate craft artist and inheritor of Chaozhou embroidery (a national ICH item) in Guangdong. As a new-generation inheritor, Lin combines Chaozhou embroidery art with gaming, culture and creativity, clothing and other fields, allowing traditional art to integrate and develop with the connotations of the times.
Zhong Min, director of the Management Center for Chaozhou Cultural Relics Protection, introduced a special area for intangible cultural heritage displayed on Guangji Bridge to promote ICH craftmanship regularly as planned, including six rooms for ceramics, wheat-straw painting, Chaozhou embroidery, wood carving, hand-pulled teapot, and comprehensive displays, where immersive experience services are provided to the public by representative inheritors of ICH projects to reproduce the unique charm of ancient bazaars on Guangji Bridge. It is said that there were bustling bazaars on the ancient Guangji Bridge as it was an important hub for the distribution and transfer of goods from Eastern Guangdong to Fujian and Jiangxi.
At the same time, the space advantage of Guangji Tower was fully leveraged to display the fine works of Chaozhou's intangible cultural heritages on its first and second floors, in which more than a dozen representative national-level ICH projects from Chaozhou were presented to the public so as to better inherit and promote excellent intangible cultural heritage.
With continuous efforts, the Cultural Revitalization Project of Guangji Bridge and Guangji Gate Tower in Chaozhou have been successfully ranked as Guangdong's typical cases of revitalization and utilization of cultural relics and historic sites in 2020 and 2022 respectively.
“一桥一楼”，焕发潮文化新活力｜高质量发展调研行
走上中国四大古桥之一的潮州广济桥，桥上的非遗展示吸引了众多游客的目光。6月13日，记者了解到，近年来，潮州扎实做好文化遗产的保护工作，坚持守正创新，积极推动广济桥、广济门城楼两处文物古迹的保育活化， 让“一桥一楼”在新时代焕发新活力。
“作为年轻人，我们也在尝试给传统技艺增加现代元素。”广东省中级工艺美术师、潮绣非遗展示艺人林楚罡表示，作为新生代的非遗传承人，他将潮绣艺术与游戏、文创、服饰等领域相结合，让传统艺术能够与时代内涵融合发展。
潮州市古城文物保护管理中心主任钟敏介绍，通过在广济桥上专门开辟非遗展示区，设置陶瓷、麦秆画、潮绣、木雕、手拉壶和综合等6个展室，常态化开展非遗技艺展示，由非遗项目代表性传承人在此向公众提供沉浸式体验服务，“桥市”独特的潮文化魅力得以再现。
同时，当地充分利用广济楼内的空间场地优势，将一二层设为“潮州非遗精品展”，融入潮州市十几项国家级非物质文化遗产代表性项目精品向公众展出，更好地传承和弘扬优秀的非物质文化遗产。
据介绍，经过不断努力，潮州广济桥活化利用项目、潮州广济门城楼活化利用项目已先后成功入选2020年度和2022年度的广东省文物古迹活化利用典型案例。
