As the province with the longest coastline in China, Guangdong is fully committed to developing its maritime economy, protecting marine ecosystems, accelerating the construction of a robust maritime province, and establishing itself as a global hub for maritime technology and innovation. Let's take a closer look at Guangdong's achievements in its journey towards becoming a maritime powerhouse——

In 2022, Guangdong's marine gross domestic product (GDP) reached a staggering 1.8 trillion yuan, marking a 5.4% year-on-year growth and maintaining its position as China's top province for 28 consecutive years.

The value added by the marine manufacturing sector in Guangdong reached 441.96 billion yuan in 2022, reflecting a 6.3% increase compared to the previous year. The emerging industries in the sector saw a value added of 21.08 billion yuan, experiencing a remarkable 18.5% year-on-year growth.

Guangdong produced a total of 4.59 million tons of marine products in 2022, with 15 national-level marine ranch demonstration areas established.

In the field of marine renewable energy and others, Guangdong registered nearly 2,000 patents in 2022. Furthermore, the annual offshore wind power witnessed a staggering 300% increase.

By the end of 2022, Guangdong had established a total of 87 marine natural reserves at various levels, covering an area of 4,950 hectares. From 2020 to 2022, the province planted 1,219 hectares of mangroves and restored 322 hectares of mangroves.
