From June 2nd to 5th, 14 Chinese and international university students participated in the study tour called the 2023 "Yueyouxing - Chinese Modernization in My View". Among them, 13 foreign students come from 7 countries including Tonga, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea.

During the study tour, they visited Yunfu and Jiangmen in Guangdong to witness the achievements of rural revitalization in China.

In Lanzhai Village, Yunfu City, the study tour group witnessed the beauty of ancient buildings in Yunan County and watched Helou dance (an ancient dance of the Zhuang People to celebrate the harvest and pray for good weather), a national-level intangible cultural heritage. "In harvest season, we perform this dance to express our longing for a bountiful harvest," explained local high school students to the study tour members, sharing the dance's history and cultural significance.

At Nanmu Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., the staff showed the study tour members around the livestock farming facilities, introducing them to the technologies in modernized animal husbandry. Maake, a student from Tonga studying at Dongguan University of Technology, exclaimed, "I've seen many smart devices for raising chickens and pigs, and they even have multi-story buildings for pig farming. It's been an eye-opening tour. I want to bring these technologies back to my own country."

In Jiangmen City, the study tour group visited the Kaiping Diaolou, a UNESCO world cultural heritage, and learned the history of the Choy Li Fut kung fu, immersing themselves in the ecological beauty of the Bird's Paradise in Xinhui.

At the Kaiping Rural E-commerce Industrial Park, the group members were captivated by the live commerce and cultural creative products. Rayleen, a student from Samoa studying at Beijing Language and Culture University, said, "Livestreaming e-commerce has inspired me a lot! It can help businesses promote their products more quickly, even for new enterprises. I want to open my own company in my country in the future and use platforms such as online social media to make the products known to more people."

Karisma from Papua New Guinea, currently a first-year clinical medicine student at Southern Medical University, visited Yunfu and Jiangmen for the first time. 

"What impressed me the most during this journey was the Chinese people's preservation of their history," Karisma told the reporter. During the tour, she witnessed how the Chinese people, on their path to modernization, cherish their history, which greatly inspired her. 

"In the museums, I saw bricks and tiles used by the ancient Chinese to build houses, as well as old artifacts. This is very rare in my country," Karisma said. Preserving history and culture allows generations of Chinese people to know the lives of their ancestors. "It's important to live in the present, but it's even more important to remember where we come from."

Dong Shitian, a student from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, served as an interpreter for the study tour group. During the discussion session, he mentioned that his foreign companions asked him several times, "Are you very proud of China's achievements?" Dong Shitian replied, "Yes, I am truly proud. I have personally experienced China's high-quality development, which emphasizes the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, and the willingness to share experiences with other countries."

海外留学生：“想把广东发展经验带回国”

6月2日至5日， 14名中外大学生参与2023“粤友行·我眼中的中国式现代化”研学活动，其中13名外国留学生来自汤加、斐济、巴布亚新几内亚等7国。

研学过程中，他们走进广东的云浮与江门，领略中国乡村振兴的成果。

在广东云浮郁南县兰寨村，研学团一行感受了郁南古建筑之美、观看了国家级非物质文化遗产连滩禾楼舞。“每当丰收时节，我们都会跳这个舞蹈，以此表达对丰收的期盼。”现场，当地的中学生向研学团成员介绍该舞蹈的历史与文化。

在南牧装备科技有限公司，工作人员带着研学团成员参观养殖设备，介绍现代化养殖的技术。就读于东莞理工学院、来自汤加的Maake向记者表示：“我看到许多智能化养鸡、养猪的设备，甚至还建了楼房养猪，收获很大。我想把这些经验带回自己的国家。”

在江门，研学团参观了世界文化遗产开平碉楼，倾听蔡李佛拳的历史，感受小鸟天堂的美丽生态。

在江门开平市农村电商产业园，线上直播带货和文创产品吸引了研学团成员的目光。“电商直播给了我很大的启发！”就读于北京语言大学、来自萨摩亚的Rayleen分享道，“电商直播可以帮助企业更快地将产品推广出去，哪怕是新企业。我希望以后能在自己的国家开一家公司，通过网络社交媒体等平台，让更多的人认识到我们的产品。”

来自巴布亚新几内亚的Karisma目前在南方医科大学就读临床医学一年级，此次是她第一次到云浮和江门。

“这次行程让我印象最深刻的，是中国人民对于自己过往历史的保存。”Karisma告诉记者，在沿途的参观中，她看到了中国人民在奔向现代化的道路上，铭记自己的历史，让她备受启发。

“博物馆里放着中国先辈们造房子使用的砖瓦还有旧的器物，这在我们国家是非常少见的。”Karisma表示，对历史与文化的保存，让每一代中国人都能看到自己先辈的生活，“看到当下很重要，但是看到过去，不忘来路，更重要。”

广东外语外贸大学的董适天在研学团里承担随行翻译的工作。他在分享环节中提到，这几天同行的外国团友们总会问他，“你看到今天中国的发展，是不是感到特别自豪？”董适天回答他们说，“我是真的很自豪。因为我亲身感受到中国的高质量发展，是人与自然和谐共生的发展，也是敞开怀抱与全球共同分享经验的高质量发展。”
