On May 20th, the China International Tropical Crops Industry Conference and the 7th Litchi and Longan Industry Conference was held in Maoming, Guangdong Province, during which a number of tropical crops cooperation projects were signed successfully thanks to the well-received litchis from Maoming.

A platform for global communication

With "Successful Development of Tropical Crops Industry Makes the World Better" as the theme, the conference strives to promote international exchanges and cooperation in the tropical areas. Foreign guests of the conference spoke highly of the litchi from Guangdong, especially from Maoming.

"I was deeply impressed by the planting history of litchi in Maoming, and I had no idea that litchi trees can grow for over a thousand years before." said Baudelaire Ndong Ella, Gabonese ambassador to China. He also mentioned that the similarity in climate and planted crops between Gabon and Maoming makes their cooperation possible.

"It’s my first time to visit Maoming, and what impressed me most here is the development of the litchi industry."said Qu Sixi, the representative of United Nations World Food Program in China.

Mohan De Silva, State Minister of Agriculture in Sri Lanka, praised Maoming as a clean and tidy city famous for its litchi, and expressed his love for Maoming.

During the conference, a series of tropical crops industry cooperation projects has added momentum to the tropical crops industry in China, including the R&D and industrial application project of litchi preservation technology in ultra low temperature and the purchase agreement of litchi as raw materials for processing.

Maoming strives to promote litchi export

Taking advantage of the conference, Maoming is sparing every effort to coordinate procedures from logistics delivery, field refrigeration, sorting and pretreating, packaging to cold chain transportation, so as to facilitate the export of litchi.

This year, Maoming has exported not only the fresh fruits of litchi, but also the highly-processed products of litchi, such as the litchi juice.

As of May 18, the volume of potential export order of major Maoming enterprises reached 6,866 tons, nearly a 30% increase compared with the total export volume of 2022. The customers are from 20 countries or regions including the US, Canada, Australia and the EU.

广东茂名荔枝与世界各国“十指紧扣”

5月20日，中国国际热作产业大会暨第七届中国荔枝龙眼产业大会在广东茂名召开，以茂名为代表的广东荔枝深受欢迎，一批热作产业合作项目签约落地。

架起平台与世界交流

大会以“热作发展好 世界会更好”为主题，切实推进热区国际交流合作。国外嘉宾纷纷为广东荔枝、茂名荔枝点赞。

“茂名荔枝种植历史让我印象深刻，之前不知道千年荔枝树。”加蓬驻华大使波德莱尔·恩东·埃拉说，尤其加蓬和中国茂名之间在气候上、作物上有那么多相似的地方，加强合作肯定是可见的事情。

“我是第一次来茂名，荔枝产业发展让我印象比较深刻。”联合国世界粮食计划署驻华代表屈四喜说。

斯里兰卡农业部副部长莫汉•德席尔瓦说，茂名是一座整洁的城市，以荔枝闻名，非常喜欢茂名。

大会现场，荔枝超低温冷冻锁鲜技术研发及产业化应用项目、荔枝加工原料采购协议、“保险+科技”助力热作产业高质量发展项目等一批热作产业合作项目签约落地，赋能中国热作产业发展。

提质增速助“荔”出海

搭乘大会东风，茂名全力推动荔枝产供销的物流寄递、田头冷仓、分拣预处理场、党群服务中心（村级物流服务站点）、品牌包装、物流冷链车等方面的"六统筹"的工作，助“荔”出海。

今年，茂名不仅实现荔枝鲜果出口，深加工产品也顺利出口，茂名生产的荔枝汁已签下订单，顺利出口到海外。

据统计，截至5月18日，茂名重点企业荔枝出口意向订单6866吨，与去年全年出口量相比，增长近30%。出口地区包括美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、欧盟等20个国家和地区。
