On May 19th, the 2023 China (Chaozhou) International Ceramic Expo kicked off at the People's Square in Chaozhou, a city in east Guangdong Province. The exhibition showcased quality ceramic products nationally such as porcelain for home and hotel use, and porcelain as artworks and gifts, fully demonstrating the new trends and new directions of the ceramic industry's development.
As one of the birthplaces of ceramic culture, Chaozhou, an ancient city digging into ceramic production for over 1,300 years, has once again ushered in an opportunity for upgrading its entire ceramic industry chain.
Expo covering an area of 10,000 square meters
The current ceramic expo with an area of 10,000 square meters features over 400 standard booths and more than 100 participating companies. The exhibition hall includes seven themed areas, including the National Ceramic Area, Fengxi Exhibition Area, Xiangqiao Exhibition Area, Chao'an Exhibition Area, Raoping Exhibition Area, Arts and Crafts Area, and Ceramic Demo Area.
Around the theme of "Chinese Ceramics · Global Trends", Chaozhou actively explores the model integrating industry, culture and exhibition so as to improve the display and sales of the entire ceramic industry chain.
Projects over 5 billion yuan presented
During the opening ceremony, the book History of Chaozhou Ceramic was officially released. Its author, Li Bingyan, President of the Chaozhou Arts and Crafts Association, introduced that the book arranges the history of Chaozhou ceramics over nearly 5,000 years, covering three development stages of ancient, modern, and contemporary periods.
With over 500,000 words and 400 pictures, the book comprehensively elaborates on the development process of Chaozhou ceramics from the Neolithic period to the present, which is of great significance in highlighting Chaozhou's cultural heritage as the "Capital of Ceramics in China."
In addition, nearly 100 ceramic projects with a total investment of over 5 billion yuan were presented at the event.
Bring Chaozhou ceramics into every family
After years of inheritance and development, Chaozhou ceramics have become the most distinctive urban symbol, the strongest industrial pillar, and the most famous cultural signature of Chaozhou.
At the expo, products that combine ceramic craftsmanship with modern elements attracted many merchants to take pictures, such as ceramic versions of the Olympics mascots Bing Dwen Dwen and Xue Rongrong, lifelike ceramic flower brooches, and various cartoon characters made of ceramics.
The expo also offered a demo area for ceramic craftsmanship, where famous arts and crafts masters and intangible cultural heritage inheritors were invited to demonstrate the making of ceramics such as hand-pulled clay teapots and ceramic sculptures, showcasing the artistic charm and unique flavor of Chaozhou ceramics, making it an expo of highlights.

5月19日,2023中国(潮州)国际陶瓷博览会在潮州市人民广场开幕。展览集中展示了全国各产区陶瓷精品,涵盖家居日用瓷、酒店瓷、艺术瓷、礼品瓷等多个品类,全面展现陶瓷产业发展的新潮流、新趋势。
作为陶瓷文化发祥地之一,有着1300多年陶瓷生产历史的古城潮州再次迎来了陶瓷全产业链升级发展的机遇。
展览规模达1万平方米
博览会规模达10000平方米,共设置标准展位400余个,参展企业超100家。展馆共设置全国陶瓷区、枫溪展区、湘桥展区、潮安展区、饶平展区、工艺美术区、陶瓷演示区等七大主题展区。
紧扣“中国瓷·世界潮”主题,潮州积极探索“产业+文化+展会”模式,加强陶瓷全产业链展示展销。
总投资超50亿元的多个项目集中呈现
在开幕式上,就有《潮州陶瓷史》正式发布。《潮州陶瓷史》的著作者,潮州市工艺美术协会会长李炳炎介绍道,著作从古代、近现代、当代三个发展阶段,系统梳理新石器时代至今将近5000年的潮州陶瓷历史。
著作用50万字、400多张图片资料,全面阐述潮州陶瓷从新石器时期至今的发展历程,对彰显潮州作为“中国瓷都”的文化底蕴具有重要的意义。
此外,还有总投资超50亿元的近100个陶瓷项目在现场集中呈现。
潮州陶瓷步入千家万户
经过多年的传承发展,潮州瓷如今已成为潮州最鲜明的城市符号、最强劲的产业支柱、最响亮的文化名片。
陶瓷版的冰墩墩与雪融融、栩栩如生的陶瓷花胸针、用陶瓷制作的各式各样卡通形象……在博览会的现场,不少结合陶瓷技艺与现代元素的制品吸引不少客商竞相打卡。
展览现场还开设有陶瓷技艺展示区,邀请著名工艺美术大师、非遗传承人现场演示手拉壶、瓷塑等陶瓷制作技艺,展现了潮州陶瓷的艺术魅力和别样韵味,可谓是亮点纷呈。
