On May 1st (Labor Day) afternoon, at the Chaoshan Historical and Cultural Expo Center in Haojiang District, Shantou City, 10 Yingge choirs with nearly a thousand performers from Shantou, Jieyang, Chaozhou, and Shanwei attracted numerous tourists and citizens to watch their performances.
"Yingge" is a traditional dance and music form popular in the Guangdong region, including Shantou, Jieyang, Chaozhou, and Shanwei. It is one of the dance forms of the Han ethnic group in China. The main performance form of Yingge is a large-scale collective dance, in which dancers hold short wooden sticks in each hand and strike them against each other in a strong and powerful manner, with a strong rhythm. As witnessed by reporters from the Yangcheng Evening News, the members of the Yingge choirs were full of passion and energy, with strong and vigorous movements accompanied by the loud Chaozhou drums, Yingge percussion instruments, and enthusiastic calls, creating a festive atmosphere and expressing people's good wishes for peace, good weather, and abundant harvests. They also showcased the rich cultural traditions of Chaoshan to tourists from other places.
盛况空前!近千人英歌队齐聚汕头庆五一
5月1日(劳动节)下午,位于汕头市濠江区的潮汕历史文化博览中心,来自汕头、揭阳、潮州以及汕尾的10支近千人表演,吸引了众多游客与市民围观。
羊城晚报记者在活动现场看到,英歌队员激情澎湃,刚健威猛的动作,伴随着潮州大锣鼓、英歌槌和粗犷豪放的吆喝声,营造喜庆的节日气氛,也寄托着人们祈求平安、风调雨顺的美好愿望,向外地游客展现浓厚的潮汕民俗文化特色。
