Recently, the second phase of the 133rd Canton Fair closed with nearly 12,000 exhibitors, featuring light industrial products such as daily necessities, gifts, and decorations. Until April 26th, the total number of visitors reached 815,000 and the export turnover of all orders exceeded 4.5 billion US dollars.
The third phase will be held from May 1st to May 5th, mainly showcasing clothing, office stationery, luggage, etc.
Shu Jueting, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, summarized that in two phases of the Canton Fair, new products were launched intensively, and new orders were placed continuously with more new friends.
What's more, Shu also concluded the highlights of the second phase with four new features:
New highlight: Low-carbon and environmental-friendly products
In the second phase, 250,000 low-carbon and environmental-friendly products were exhibited on the online platform, accounting for half of all products in the fair. Some of these products have sold more than 1 million dollars in just one order, which is quite remarkable in the light industry. Such orders show that more and more Chinese companies attach importance to environmental-friendly development.
New driver: innovation and research
Although many products in the second phase are from labor-intensive industries, exhibitors accelerate the industrial transformation and upgrading of traditional industries through innovation, design, technologies and local culture. Among 400,000 new exhibits on the online platform, 110,000 of them own independent intellectual property rights. There were 73 online and offline product launches featuring new household items.
According to Shu Jueting, exhibitors said, "The Canton Fair is not only a stage for companies to present their products, but also a school for them to improve themselves." Also, it is worth mentioning that the second phase of the fair coincided with the 23rd World Intellectual Property Day. To protect intellectual property, a complaint system has been launched, maintaining a good trading environment.
New opportunity: New exhibition areas
To meet the needs of industrial development, a maternity and baby products exhibition area was established for the first time in the second phase with 501 booths and 382 exhibitors. The results are far beyond expectations, surpassing the exhibitions before the pandemic. As of April 26, the fourth day of the second phase, the maternity and baby products exhibition area had witnessed a turnover of 110 million dollars.
New feature: Collaboration between online and offline exhibitions
Until April 26th, online visitors exceeded 390,000 people, of which over 360,000 were overseas buyers, accounting for about 91%. Some purchasers said that they couldn't visit all the booths within 5 days, however, they can continue their visit through online platforms to compare prices and make inquiries even after the event.
