The 133rd Canton Fair is being held in Guangzhou from April 15th to May 5th in three phases. The first phase, from April 15th to 19th, included 20 exhibition areas such as home appliances, building materials, and hardware tools. A total of 12,911 companies were participating in the offline exhibition, including 3,856 new exhibitors.
According to Xu Bing, Spokesperson for the Canton Fair and Vice Director of China Foreign Trade Centre, despite the slow global economic recovery, weak growth in international trade, and challenges in international air travel, the first phase of the Canton Fair was well-received by exhibitors and overseas buyers, who gave positive feedback and believed it was better than expected.
Popular on-site exhibition
The fair, which runs from April 15 to May 5 in Guangzhou, is being held offline for the first time since the stable transition of China's epidemic prevention and control measures. The fair attracted a lot of attention from the global business community and received a total of over 1.26 million visitors as of April 19, demonstrating the unique charm and appeal of the Canton Fair.
Orders beyond expectations
Many companies reported strong interest from potential buyers, with some exhibitors receiving intentional orders worth up to $3 million on the first day of the fair. The industrial automation and intelligent manufacturing exhibition area even saw some exhibitors receive orders worth up to $10 million.
Strong spillover effect
As consumers' preferences become more diverse and individualized, trade shows and exhibitions are adapting to these changing market trends, with stronger spill-over effects. Exhibitions are becoming more than just a platform for displaying products, but also a place to facilitate personalized interactions between buyers and sellers. The transaction process is evolving to include on-site sampling, factory visits, and product design adjustments before making a purchase.
According to Xu Bing, many companies have already received a large number of appointments from customers to visit their factories. As a result, the organizers of the second-phase Canton Fair, which will start on April 23rd, are planning to increase their efforts in inviting more buyers and optimize the supporting services to provide a better environment for business negotiations and transactions. The fair invites business people from around the world to participate and seize the opportunities offered by China for better development.
