On April 14, the luxury "ro-ro" (roll-on/roll-off) passenger ship MOBY FANTASY set sail from Longxue Island, an island in the southernmost part of Guangzhou. This giant liner was independently built by a shipbuilding company Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited (GSI) for its Italian ferry customer MOBY Line, with a capacity of 2,500 passengers and a 3,800-meter-long lane.
With a maximum displacement of over 70,000 tons, the MOBY FANTASY is ranked as the world's largest of its kind. After delivery, it will operate between the cities of Genoa, Olbia and Livorno along the Mediterranean coast.
Total ship cables can be pulled from Guangzhou to Chongqing
With a total length of 237 meters and a molded width of 33 meters, the MOBY FANTASY can reach a speed of 23.5 knots (43.5 kilometers per hour) and has 13 decks and 533 suites that accommodate up to 2,500 passengers and nearly 800 vehicles.
The ship's superstructure covers an area of about 16,000 square metres, of which the area of various restaurants and entertainment venues for tourists reaches about 6,700 square meters, with an interior comparable to that of a luxury liner, making it a five-star hotel cruising on the sea.
According to the project manager Cao Jifei, cables used on the ship is nearly 1,000 kilometres long, equivalent to the distance from Guangzhou to Chongqing.
Very low fuel consumption for a 25-knot speed
Designed in strict accordance with the concept of green environmental protection and efficient operation, the MOBY FANTASY is a model of a "green ship". Achille Onorato, Managing Director of MOBY Line, introduced that the vessel, also a cruiseferry to some extent, is the largest, greenest and most comfortable passenger ship in the world today.
It is understood that the MOBY FANTASY is equipped with a new-type vehicle-to-load(V2L) system. Direct access is available either from the stern door to the main garage in the ship, or from two side doors to the upper deck ramp, which effectively increases loading and unloading efficiency. What's more, the ship is also equipped with the latest hybrid scrubber system to ensure that any smoke emitted meets the requirements of cleanliness and environmental protection.
An extremely low-power engine system is also provided, which enables the highest speeds of up to 25 knots (43.5 kilometers per hour) with extremely low fuel consumption. In addition, the ship also reserves a liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion function interface, allowing a switch to LNG as the power fuel if required. This will further reduce pollutant emissions from the vessel.
Sailing to Italy with the friendship between China and Italy
Achille Onorato also mentioned that the cooperation between MOBY and GSI is undoubtedly a success that shows the Chinese companies' capability in fulfilling such a difficult task and challenge."
As the shipbuilder holding the largest number of deliveries and orders for luxury ro-ro passenger ships in hand globally, GSI has overcome many key core technologies in the design and construction of luxury ro-ro ships with the achievement of core patents for design, harvesting high recognition from the international market.
"This ship is a typical product of manufacturing in Guangdong." Zhou Xuhui, GSI vice general manager, said that the interior of the MOBY FANTASY has achieved 100% localization in design, production and installation.
China and Italy are on opposite ends of the ancient Silk Road. And the contract for the construction of the MOBY FANTASY was signed in June 2019 with a total of two ships planned to be built. This refers to an actual practice by China and Italy to actively implement the Belt and Road initiative. The MOBY FANTASY will soon sail to Italy with the friendship between China and Italy. Achille Onorato also revealed that the ship will mainly operate between mainland Italy and Sardinia.
全球最大豪华客滚船在穗启航
4月14日,由中国船舶集团广船国际为“一带一路”沿线国家意大利的MOBY Line航运公司建造的2500客/3800米车道豪华客滚船“MOBY FANTASY”号轮在广州南沙龙穴岛启航。
这艘船的排水量约超过70000总吨,是目前建成的全球最大吨位的豪华客滚船,交付后将在地中海沿岸的意大利热那亚、奥尔比亚以及里窝那之间的航线运营。
全船电缆能从广州拉到重庆
据中国船舶广船国际建造经理张振国介绍,“MOBY FANTASY”号轮船长237米,型宽33米,服务航速约23.5节,共有13层甲板,533间客房,能搭载2500名乘客和近800辆汽车。
船上上层建筑面积约为1.6万平方米,其中供游客休闲的各类餐厅和休闲娱乐场所面积达到约6700平方米,内装媲美豪华邮轮,相当于一座漂浮在海上的“海上五星级酒店”。
据该船项目经理曹继飞介绍,这艘船上所使用的电缆首尾相连有近1000公里长,相当于从广州到重庆的距离。
极低燃料消耗航速可达25节
“MOBY FANTASY”号轮严格按照绿色环保和高效运营的理念进行设计,堪称“绿色船舶”中的典范。“这艘船是当前全球吨位最大、最绿色环保与舒适的客轮船,从某种层面上,我们也将其称之为游轮型渡轮。”MOBY Line航运公司总经理 Achille Onorato表示。
据介绍,这艘船配备了新型车辆装载系统,从船艉中央门可直接上船进入到船上的主车库,船舷的两个侧门也可以到达上甲板坡道,有效提高了装卸效率;船上还配备了最新型混合洗涤器系统,确保其排放的烟气达到清洁环保的要求。
船上配备了极低功耗的发动机系统,能够在极低燃料消耗情况下实现最快25节的高速航行。另外,船上还预留了液化天然气(LNG)推进功能接口,可根据需要改为以LNG作为船舶动力燃料,这将进一步降低船舶污染物的排放。
带着中意两国的友谊驶向意大利
“本次和广船国际的合作无疑是成功的,中国企业有能力完成这样一项艰巨的任务和挑战。”Achille Onorato提到。
作为目前全球交付豪华客滚船和手持豪华客滚船订单最多的造船企业,广船国际在豪华客滚船设计及建造领域先后攻克了多项关键核心技术,形成了一批客滚船设计核心专利,获得了国际市场的高度认可。
“这艘船是广东制造的典型的代表。”中国船舶广船国际副总经理周旭辉表示,“MOBY FANTASY”号轮的内装方面已实现了从设计、制造、安装全过程的100%国产化。
中国和意大利分处古丝绸之路两端,该客滚船项目于2019年6月签署建造合同,共计划建造2艘,是中意两国积极践行“一带一路”倡议的具体实践。“很快,船就将带着中意两国的友谊驶向意大利。”Achille Onorato透露,船主要在意大利本土和撒丁岛之间运行。
