春節假期，免不了小酌幾杯。在南越王博物院，有一只犀角形玉杯，用它來喝酒，必須喝完才能擱杯。其實，這是因為它沒有底座、無法直立，因此酒一旦倒入，必須一飲而盡。

為什麽做成犀牛角形狀？在古老的西方，人們相信，犀牛角是聖物，如果酒中摻有毒藥，犀牛角杯會將毒藥溶解。這一說法，傳入南越國，被愛酒的文王趙昩所采納。

犀角形玉杯雕琢工藝精細，是南越王博物院的鎮院之寶之一，以及首批「禁止出國（境）展覽文物」之一，從來沒有外借展出過，足見其極高的文物價值。

Want to hear some funny stories about ancient Chinese wine culture? Come and check this drinking vessel made of jade in the Nanyue King Museum in Guangzhou.

It's called a Jade Drinking Vessel in Rhinoceros Horn Shape. Why Rhinoceros Horn? In the ancient west, it was believed that rhinoceros horn was holy; so a vessel made of rhinoceros horn can dissolve poison in the wine.

The Nanyue King, Zhao Mo, a wine person, heard the anecdote and chose to believe it. Thus, the Jade Drinking Vessel in Rhinoceros Horn Shape came into existence. With no base, the drinking vessel cannot stand, forcing people to drink all the wine in it or let the rest of the wine spoil.

As an excellent national treasure in the museum, its exhibition outside China’s mainland is forbidden.
