#TheGreatBeautyofGuangdong Putting an end to a three-year hiatus, Chinese Crested Tern has appeared in Zhanjiang again. This is one of the most endangered birds in the world. People fondly call it a "mythical bird". China has classified the bird as a national first-class protected wild animal. At present, there are only about 100 such birds in the world.
Zhanjiang is located in the Leizhou Peninsula, surrounded by the sea on three sides. It has the largest mangrove nature reserve in China and is a good wintering place for waterbirds.
According to the statistics of the Zhanjiang BirdWatching Society, more than 300 species of birds have been spotted in Zhanjiang, including 13 first-class national protected birds such as Spoon-billed sandpiper and Oriental stork.
Zhanjiang is the largest destination for the wintering group of Spoon-billed sandpipers in China, which also became the name card of Zhanjiang birds.
