Hibiscus mutabilis, also known as the confederate rose, is in full bloom in this golden autumn in Guangdong. The roses are now welcoming the third flowering season of the year—the first in January and the second in May. On October 12, the beautiful and refreshing confederate roses attracted the locals to visit the Furong island of Liuhuahu park. The changing flowers are white in the morning and turn pink at noon and red in the evening of the same day. They continue to change their colors because of the transformations in the concentration of anthocyanins caused by light, temperature, and moisture. According to experts, October sees the full bloom of confederate roses.

10月12日，在流花湖公园芙蓉洲，蓝天映衬下，木芙蓉繁花盛放，清丽脱俗，吐艳如霞，吸引不少街坊到来赏花。木芙蓉是“善变女神”，花色一日三变，清晨如雪白，中午渐变浅红，傍晚变成深红，因此又名“三醉芙蓉”。“一日三变”的原因，是光照、温度、水分等因素会引起花瓣内花青素浓度发生变化。专家介绍，10月金秋才是木芙蓉的主花期，是其开花最多最美的时间。
