Guangzhou Huangpu tem uma profunda cultura de lichia com uma história de mais de mil anos. Atualmente, a área de plantação de lichia no distrito de Huangpu excede 20.000 mu, dos quais mais de 10.000 mu contêm antigas árvores de lichia com mais de 100 anos de idade. Diz-se que este ano é um ano de folga para as líchias, e que a produção de líchias no Distrito de Huangpu deverá ser de cerca de 3.000 toneladas. No recentemente realizado Festival Cultural Huangpu Millennium Lychee, houve uma área de degustação de líchias e foram expostas 29 variedades de líchias em Lingnan.

广州黄埔荔枝文化深厚，荔枝种植的历史超过千年。目前，黄埔区荔枝种植面积超2万亩，其中百年以上古荔枝树超1万亩。据了解，今年是荔枝的小年，黄埔区荔枝预计产量约3000吨。在近日举行的黄埔千年荔枝文化节上，主办方专门设置了荔枝科普品鉴区，现场展示了岭南29种荔枝品种。
