There is a special ancestral hall in XiashaVillage, Huangpu District, Guangzhou. When you walk in, you can see the walls are covered with paddles and a variety of woodcutting tools. This is the studio of Zhang Weichao, a well-known dragon boat carving craftsman in Guangdong. The 35-year-old has been carving dragon boats for more than 20 years. From childhood "casually playing" to the world stage now, Zhang Weichao said: "Behind our carving skills you can find our folk culture, our soul and roots."
在广州市黄埔区下沙村中,有一座特别的古祠堂。当你走进去,你就能看到墙上挂满了船桨,以及琳琅满目的木刻工具。这里正是广东知名龙舟龙头龙尾雕刻工匠张伟潮的工作室。今年35岁的他雕刻龙舟龙头龙尾的年头已经有20多年了。从儿时的“随手玩玩”,到如今走向世界舞台,张伟潮表示:“龙舟龙头雕刻技艺背后,是我们的民俗文化,是我们的根和魂。”
