Chinese-born Canadian pianist Liu Xiaoyu won the 18th Chopin International Piano Competition in October 2021. However, unlike most piano boys who have practiced hard every day since childhood, the champion, who loves racing, swimming and Weiqi, is cool and easy-going. Piano is just one of his hobbies. Liu says he admires Chaplin’s way of looking at things -- everything should be expressed in a positive way, even negative things.
