The birthday of Huaguang Emperor, who is honored as the patriarch of Cantonese Opera takes place on the 28th day of the ninth month on the lunar calendar. Yesterday, a Cantonese Opera parade was held at the Yongqing Fang to celebrate this special day. The sound of Cantonese Opera, drums, gongs and lion dances brought the ceremony to a close. This traditional custom has been passed down for 300 years. It gathers people who deeply love Cantonese Opera and want to help carry on the legacy of Lingnan culture.
农历九月廿八日是粤剧祖师华光师傅的诞辰，每逢这天，粤剧戏行会抬着华光师傅神像巡游，粤剧音乐锣鼓配上醒狮表演，热闹非凡。这项传统习俗，至今已有三百年历史，广泛连结了海内外热爱粤剧人员，使广府岭南文化得到传承。
