The Chosen One, which completed the space voyage with Chang’ e 5, has ripened and been harvested in Guangzhou recently. On December 17, 2020, the Chang’ e 5 spacecraft carried the rice seeds to the moon and back for a 23-day journey of more than one million kilometers. After experiencing cosmic rays in the deep space environment, they returned to Earth and were planted in Guangdong Province. After nearly eight months, the rice was ready to be harvested and 2,000 plants were harvested and shipped back to the laboratory for research. In the future, they will continue to reproduce on Guangdong soil and are expected to become a 100 percent original Chinese rice variety.
7月，与嫦娥五号一起“上天”的“天选水稻”在广州成熟，迎来收割。2020年12月17日，这批水稻种子“乘坐”嫦娥五号完成历时23天、行程超百万公里的地月往返征程，在深空环境中经历宇宙射线的照射后，成功返回地球，“落户”广东大地。经过近八个月的辛劳与期盼，这批水稻成熟了，2000株水稻收割后被运回实验室开展研究。未来，它们会在广东的土地上纯化优良性状，有望成为100%中国原创的水稻新品种。
