As the old saying applies, “No Cantonese opera without the Chou role” has showcased the importance of the Chou figures in a Cantonese opera play. The Chou role, also known as the clown, is one of the ten characters in traditional Cantonese opera. Commonly, they serve to the supporting roles appearing in an opera and are responsible for making the audience laugh. Recently, the national first-class actor, Wang Yanfei, held a special performance, which was both solemn and humorous. His lifelike imitations also wowed the audience.
